A method of screening a lot of capacitors is provided. The method includes measuring a first leakage current of each individual capacitor in a first set of capacitors and calculating a first mean leakage current; removing each of the individual capacitors having a measured first leakage current equal to or above a first predetermined value, forming a second set of capacitors; subjecting the second set of capacitors to a burn in treatment; measuring a second leakage current for each of the individual capacitors in the second set and calculating a second mean leakage current; comparing the second leakage current for each of the individual capacitors to the first leakage current for each of the individual capacitors; and removing each of the individual capacitors having a second leakage current equal to or above a second predetermined value and/or having a second leakage current that does not change by a specified amount compared to the first leakage current for each of the individual capacitors.

Screening method for electrolytic capacitors that maintains individual capacitor unit identity

A solid electrolytic capacitor and method for making the capacitor are provided. The capacitor includes a porous anode body, an anode foil, a dielectric, a cathode, and anode and cathode terminations. The foil is disposed on a planar surface of the anode body, and both comprise a valve metal. Further, the dielectric overlies at least a portion of the anode body, and the dielectric is also formed within the anode body. The cathode overlies at least a portion of the dielectric that overlies the anode body and includes a solid electrolyte, where at least a portion of a lower surface of the foil is free of both the dielectric and the solid electrolyte. In addition, the anode termination is electrically connected to the portion of the lower surface of the foil that is free of both the dielectric and the solid electrolyte, and the cathode termination is electrically connected to the solid electrolyte.

Solid electrolytic capacitor for a tantalum embedded microchip

A module containing a plurality of active capacitors and a sacrificial capacitor is provided. The active capacitors and sacrificial capacitor are aligned along a horizontal direction so that the side surfaces of their cases are parallel to each other. The particular arrangement of the active capacitors and sacrificial capacitor results in a module configuration where the anode terminations for the active capacitors and an external component of the lead frame for the sacrificial capacitor are coplanar so that the module can be mounted to a circuit board via the anode terminations and the external component of the lead frame in a mechanically and electrically stable manner. Further, the center of gravity of the module in the length and/or width directions can be located at a midpoint of the overall module length and/or width, which enhances the stability of the module when mounted to a circuit board.

Solid electrolytic capacitor module with improved planarity

A wet electrolytic capacitor that contains a casing that contains a sidewall extending to an upper end to define an opening is provided. The sidewall further defines an inner surface that surrounds an interior. At least one anode and at least one cathode are positioned within the interior of the casing, wherein the cathode contains an electrochemically-active material and further wherein an anode lead extends from the anode. A working electrolyte is in electrical contact with the anode and the electrochemically-active material. The capacitor also comprises a lid assembly that contains a lid positioned on an upper end of the casing sidewall, wherein the lid defines an orifice through which a tube extends. The tube accommodates the anode lead that extends from the anode. A dielectric layer is formed on a surface of the tube.

Wet electrolytic capacitor

A wet electrolytic capacitor that contains a casing that contains a cylindrical sidewall is provided. The cylindrical sidewall defines an inner surface that surrounds an interior. First and second outer anodes are positioned within the interior of the casing. The first outer anode has a radiused sidewall and an opposing planar sidewall and the second outer anode has a radiused sidewall and an opposing planar sidewall. A central anode is also positioned within the interior of the casing between the first and second outer anodes. The central anode contains opposing first and second outer sidewalls intersecting with opposing first and second inner sidewalls. The first and second inner sidewalls are planar, and the first planar inner sidewall of the central anode faces the planar sidewall of the first outer anode and the second planar inner sidewall of the central anode faces the planar sidewall of the second outer anode.
