Polyphase wireless power transfer systems are provided. The transfer system may be used for charging hybrid and electric vehicles. The systems are capable of transferring over 50 KW over an air gap of 15 cm. The systems use a rotating magnetic field to transfer power. The system may comprise transmitter coil assembly. The coil assembly may be one or more layers. The system may employ either unipolar or bipolar coils. The transmitter also comprises compensating capacitance connected in series with at least one coil for each phase. A value of the compensating capacitance for each phase is determined such that the transmitter has at least two independently excitable resonant modes at a resonant frequency. The transmitter is compatible with a plurality of different receivers including three-phase, single phase with a circular coil and single phase with DD coils.

Polyphase wireless power transfer systems, coil assemblies and resonant networks

A system is provided for transferring power between a stator and a rotor of an excitation system. The stator and the rotor may form part of a rotary transformer that includes a primary winding and a secondary winding, where power is transferred from the primary winding to the secondary winding or conversely from the secondary winding to the primary winding.

A method for wirelessly or conductively (non-wireless) providing AC or DC power in AC or DC load applications and bidirectional applications.

Wireless power system

A wireless power supply power supply including first tuning circuitry coupled directly to a transmitter, the first tuning circuitry including an LCC configuration. The wireless power supply may include second tuning circuitry coupled directly to switching circuitry (e.g., an inverter) of the power supply, where the second tuning circuitry may be operable to direct power from the switching circuitry to the first tuning circuitry for supply to the transmitter, and where the second tuning circuitry includes a reactance operable to establish inductive operation of the switching circuitry at the switching frequency of the switching circuitry.

Tuning circuitry for a wireless power system

A shield construction for transfer of wireless power is provided. The shield construction may be a magnetic shield having a plurality of layers and provided for a wireless transmitter or a wireless receiver, or both. The magnetic shield may include a first layer and a second layer, where the first layer may be nearer to a core than the second layer, and where the second layer may include a second layer area that is larger than a first layer area of the first layer. The wireless transmitter and the wireless receiver may be configured to multi-phase wireless power transfer.

Shielding system for wireless power transfer

Disclosed herein are embodiments of soft magnetic alloy embodiments for use in additive manufacturing and structures fabricated from such alloys. In some embodiments, the fabricated structures comprise a continuous thin wall (or plurality thereof) having a geometry that promotes reduced eddy current losses and other performance enhancements. In some embodiments, the fabricated structures are used to make components, such as transformer cores and/or electric motors.
