A portable, hand-held electro-optical reader and specimen sample collector is provided, including an absorbent pad, one or more test strips contained in the collector handle to provide observable results through a window, the handle insertable into the reader for immediate recording and analysis. The system includes means to automatically provide subject and test specific data with the test results and retain samples for later verification analysis.

Specimen sample collection device and test system

A specimen sample collection system includes a handle having opposing first and second ends, and a sufficiency indicator coupled to the handle, wherein the handle second end and sufficiency indicator form a cavity adapted to receive a sample collection pad; a sample collection pad having opposing ends, the sample collection pad partially contained within and extending from the handle second end and in contact with the sufficiency indicator, the sample collection pad having a cylindrical cross section; and, a pad compression tube having a first open end to go over the sample collection pad and second end of the handle, an opposing second end, an interior surface extending therebetween, and at least outlet port proximal to the pad compression tube second end and in fluid communication with the pad compression tube interior. The system may include wherein the sufficiency indicator is a light pipe or other indicating element, providing visual, aural or haptic indication of sufficient sample volume. The system may include wherein the sufficiency indicator includes longitudinal channels extending along the interior surface in contact with the sample collection pad to provide a path for displace air. The system may include a sealing member to seal against a pad compression tube and to engage the specimen collection pad. The system may include one or more collection tubes attachable to one or more of the pad compression tube outlet ports. The system may include ergonomic features for the handle and pad compression tube. The system may include a specimen collection pad having a full cross section portion and a reduced cross section portion, including a shoulder to engage a sealing member and an angled surface to conform to the interior surface of a light pipe sufficiency indicator. The system may include one or more in-line filters adjacent the pad compression tube outlet ports. The system may include additional features as described herein.

Specimen sample collection system

A biological sample collection system is described comprising a biological sample collecting wand and a buffer container with a buffer solution. The biological sample collecting wand includes a handle and a sample collector detachably coupled to the handle. The sample collector include one or more sample protrusions, one or more sample apertures, or a combination thereof, at least the sample collector to removably insert into the buffer container.

A specimen sample collection device includes a handle having a sufficiency indicator and absorbent pad partially contained therein with one or more test strips, a pad compression tube insertable over the absorbent pad within the handle and around an end of the handle, and a collection tube having one or more sample chambers, attachable to the pad compression tube, and wherein the compression tube defines one or more chambers, and wherein when the collection tube is attached to the pad compression tube, the chambers are in fluid communication with the pad compression tube. Biological sample collection wand

A method of providing a user controllable sign, on the trailer of a tractor-trailer rig. The tractor includes a cab and the trailer is electrically connected to the tractor by way of a jack that provides a set number of electrical connections between the tractor and the trailer. The method begins with the installation of a manual input device in the cab. This device creates a signal that can be overlaid on a jack input without disrupting the input and is electrically connected to a jack input. Also, a signal receiving unit is installed in the trailer, and is connected to a wire electrically connected to the jack input that receives the user signal from the manual input device. This unit is able to determine the presence of the signal from the manual input device. Also installed in the trailer, is a sign deployment controller that is at least in part responsive to the user signal receiving unit. Finally, a sign assembly, controlled by the sign deployment controller, is installed.
