A knife having a latchless locking mechanism having a handle half with a left handle portion and a right handle portion held apart to form a blade groove. The left handle portion and the right handle portion each include a liner including a pivot slot and a first lock pin disposed between the first left handle portion and the first right handle portion. A blade having a tang that is pivotally and slidably coupled to the handle half with a pivot pin, the tang including a tang slot configured to accept the locking pin and a hook portion extending over the tang slot, the hook portion configured to capture the lock pin when the blade is in a locked position and thereby prevent rotation of the blade from the first locked position to the open position. A latchless locking system is also provided.

Latchless locking mechanism for butterfly knife

A cigar cutter having a handle with a transverse cigar hole and a cutting blade configured to cut a cigar tip placed in the cigar hole. The cutting blade having a central lock portion and pivotally connected to the rear end of the handle by a pivot shaft. The cigar cutter further having a lock bar that is movable between a first position and a second position, wherein the first position locks the cutting blade when in a closed position, and moving the lock bar to the second position releases the cutting blade from being locked in the closed position.

A folding tool including a handle having a first handle half and a second handle half held in a spaced apart relationship to form an implement groove therebetween. Two or more implements are pivotally connected between the first handle half and a second handle half by a pivot shaft and movable between an open position and closed position and lockable in the open position. The folding tool includes a closed blade retention system, with a detent feature (or hole) on each tang, a detent retainer spring, and a detent ball. When the implement is in the closed position, the detent aligns with the ball thereby retaining the blade in the closed position.

Dual blade locking mechanism

A folding knife has mechanisms for facilitating dual operational modes for opening the blade. In a first modality, the knife is opened and closed manually. In a second modality, the knife is fully automatic. When the blade is in the closed position the user may use either mode, manual or automatic, without any switching mechanism. A lock securely locks the blade in the open position when either opening modality is being used. To open the blade manually, the user rotates the blade from the closed to the open position&#x2014;the lock automatically locks the blade open when the blade is fully open. To open the blade automatically, the lock mechanism functions as the trigger mechanism; the user slides the lock mechanism to actuate the automatic open mechanism. When the blade is in the fully open position the lock secures the blade open. A torsion spring around the pivot shaft that connects the blade to the handle and which is retained in a bushing drives the blade open in the automatic mode. The knife includes a 'dry fire safety' mechanism that prevents operation of the automatic opening mechanisms when the blade is in the open position or in any position intermediate between open and closed when the manual modality is used.
