A guard assembly associated with a final drive assembly is provided. The guard assembly includes a skirt member coupled to the final drive assembly such that the skirt member partially encloses the spindle housing. The skirt member includes a first end portion having a mounting surface and a second end portion having an axial projection radially spaced from the outer surface and extending towards the first end portion such that the axial projection defines a circumferential groove adjacent to an outer surface. The guard assembly also includes a segmented seal having an axial member provided in an inner surface and extending inward towards an inner surface and defining a circumferential groove positioned outward from a first diameter such that the circumferential groove is configured to cooperate with and be spaced from the circumferential groove of the second end portion of the skirt member.

A torque estimator is disclosed for estimating torque on a machine. A computer system may include a torque estimator module located on the machine. The torque estimator module may be configured to receive a plurality of engine parameters, receive a drivetrain component parameter, determine an estimated torque value at the drivetrain component based on the plurality of engine parameters and the drivetrain component parameter. The computer system also may include an analysis module located on the machine. The analysis module may be configured to receive the estimated torque value and the drivetrain component parameter, and update a histogram data structure based on the estimated torque value and the drivetrain component parameter. The analysis module may also be configured to evaluate the histogram data structure in order to determine if excessive torque is being applied to a drivetrain component.

Torque estimator for a machine

A differential assembly for a machine includes a ring gear, first and second differential side gears and a plurality of pinions configured to mesh with the first and second side gears, and mounted on at least one pinion support pin. An inner differential housing is rotatably supported by an outer differential housing, and includes a torque transmitting hub configured to couple the ring gear with the first and second side gears via at least two pinions. The hub including a plurality of radial spokes and an outer rim portion having pinion support pin bores therein. A method of assembling a differential assembly for a machine includes coupling a spoked hub with a ring gear, and establishing a first torque transmission path between the ring gear and side gears of the differential, and establishing a second torque transmission path between a short portion of the differential housing comprising the hub and a long portion of the differential housing, the second torque transmission path including a joint coupling the short and long portions.
