An example fitting includes: a fitting body comprising an exterior annular groove formed and configured to receive a retaining snap ring to couple the fitting body to a fluid line connector; a seal carrier slidably accommodated in the fitting body and having: (i) a first end face, (ii) a second end face opposite the first end face, (iii) a first annular groove formed in an exterior peripheral surface of the seal carrier, wherein the first annular groove is configured to receive a radial seal therein, and (iv) a second annular groove formed in the second end face, wherein the second annular groove is configured to receive a face seal therein; and a spring having a first end fixedly disposed within the fitting body and a second end interfacing with the first end face of the seal carrier such that the spring applies a biasing force on the seal carrier.

A pressure reading assembly including a housing defining a conduit configured to transmit bodily fluid therethrough and a receiving tube having a first opening and an inner cylindrical surface. The pressure reading assembly further includes a sensing apparatus which includes a sensor disposed on a substrate and an engagement member including a generally columnar sealing member configured to engage an inner cylindrical surface of a receiving tube within the housing connected to the substrate about the sensor. The sealing member defines an axial bore extending from a proximal end to a distal end and includes an outer sealing surface defining one or more engaging elements configured to non-adhesively engage the inner cylindrical surface of the receiving tube to resist removal of the sensor assembly so that a pre-sterilized sensor assembly can be removed from a clean sealed packaging and joined directly with the housing.

An example fluid connection system includes: a fitting comprising one or more ears protruding radially outward; a coupling nut comprising at least one helical groove and one or more channels, wherein the one or more channels are configured to allow the one or more ears of the fitting to pass therethrough and reach the at least one helical groove as the coupling nut is slid axially relative to the fitting to mount the coupling nut to the fitting, and wherein the one or more ears are configured to rotationally traverse the at least one helical groove when rotating the coupling nut relative to the fitting, thereby pulling the coupling nut and the fitting toward each other; and an anti-rotation element configured to rotationally couple the fitting to the coupling nut when the coupling nut reaches a predetermined rotational position relative to the fitting.

Fluid connection systems

A threaded coupling for ensuring a complete connection between fluid conduits includes a body portion of a fluid conduit, an axially forward sealing surface, a thread, and an interference member. The interference member is disposed on the body portion and is engageable with a portion of another fluid conduit to apply a load on the interference member when the fluid conduits are threadably connected together. The interference member is configured to prevent a complete sealing engagement between the fluid conduits when the load on the interference member is less than a predefined amount, and is configured to allow the complete sealing engagement between the fluid conduits when the load on the interference member meets or exceeds the predetermined amount.

A force sensor may comprise a sense die comprising a top part and a bottom part. Generally, the top part may comprise a first surface and a second surface, and the bottom part may comprise a first surface for direct contact with a substrate. Typically, the bottom part may be formed by removing a portion of the material of the sense die around the edges of a first face of the sense die. Typically, adhesive may replace the portion of the sense die material removed from the edges of the first face of the sense die. Thus, the adhesive may secure the first surface of the bottom part of the sense die directly to the substrate without serving as an interface between the bottom part of the sense die and the substrate.

An integrated seal and diaphragm member for a pressure sensor assembly may include a diaphragm portion and a seal portion integral with the diaphragm portion. In some cases, the integrated seal and diaphragm member includes one or more retention features integral with the diaphragm portion and/or the seal portion. In some cases, the seal portion may be thicker than the diaphragm portion and may extend around the perimeter of the diaphragm portion. In some instances, the seal portion may be configured to deform to form a seal with a pressure port of an external component or device without causing the diaphragm portion to move toward the pressure port in any significant way.

A pressure sensor assembly having a printed circuit board (PCB) with a pressure sensor mounted on the PCB, a side wall engaging the PCB, a membrane, a cavity defined by the membrane, the side wall and the PCB, and a gel or liquid filling the cavity. The pressure sensor assembly may include a fill-hole extending into the cavity through which the cavity may be filled with the gel or liquid. The fill-hole may extend through one or both of the PCB and/or the side wall. The cavity is defined in part by a septum that allows a needle to pierce the septum for filling the cavity with the gel or liquid. A method of forming the pressure sensor assembly may include filling a cavity of the pressure sensor assembly with a gel or liquid through a fill-hole and curing the gel or liquid once in the cavity.

System and method for securing sense die in force sensor

Embodiments relate generally to a sensor device, method, and system are provided for housing a sensor. An example force sensor includes an actuation element, a sense die, and a universal housing for holding a sense die. The universal housing has a top wall, a bottom wall, two side walls, and a back wall that define a cavity. The sense die is disposed within the cavity. The top wall defines an aperture having a first central axis therethrough. The housing defines an opening between the top wall and bottom wall extending from an exterior of the housing to the cavity. The opening has a second central axis and is configured to receive the sense die therethrough. At least a portion of the actuation element extends from the cavity through the aperture. The first central axis is orthogonal to the second central axis.

A force sensor or sensor assembly may include a sense die, a housing, and a force transmitting member. The sense die may include a force sensing region and at least one bond pad. The housing may include a sense die receiving cavity, at least one electrical terminal configured to engage a bond pad of the sense die, a retention member configured to prevent the sense die from sliding out of the housing, and a hole in the housing that exposes the force sensing region of the sense die to the force transmitting element. The housing may include one or more component parts. In some cases, the force sensor or sensor assembly may be configured on a microscale through micro-manufacturing techniques.

Systems and methods for sensing pressure, and protecting a sensor within a sensor assembly. A sensor assembly may comprise a sensor having at least one pressure input port; a first housing configured to encapsulate the sensor; a second housing configured to attach to the first housing to encapsulate the sensor; a first O-ring located between the first housing and the sensor; a second O-ring located between the second housing and the sensor; and a printed circuit board configured to receive detected pressure information from the sensor.

Embodiments generally relate to device and methods for detecting force. A force sensor may include a sense die, a substrate, one or more sense elements supported by the sense die, one or more electrical contacts located on the sense die and electrically coupled to electrical traces on the substrate, and an actuation element configured to transmit a force to the sense die. The width of the actuation element may be less than the distance between the one or more electrical contacts. In some embodiments, the actuation element may include a thin wedge/plate configured to interact with the sense die at a contact point. The thin wedge/plate may allow use of a smaller sense die and/or may allow closer placement of the one or more sense elements to the contact point and/or may prevent accidental contact with the one or more electrical contacts which may lead to a short circuit.

Micrometer mechanical force interface

Apparatus and associated methods relate to a preloaded force sensor, the preloaded force being greater than a force threshold separating a non-linear response region of sensor operation from a substantially linear response region of sensor operation. In an illustrative embodiment, the total applied force includes the preloaded force and an externally-applied force, the preloaded force being predetermined such that electrical signal response is substantially linear for positive externally-applied forces which when added to the preload force do not exceed the maximum force. In some embodiments, the externally-applied force may be transferred to a force-sensing die via a force-transfer member. In an exemplary embodiment, a spring having a predetermined spring coefficient may apply the predetermined preload force to the force-transfer member. In an exemplary embodiment, externally-applied positive forces may be simply calibrated using gain and offset corrections.
