An implantable electrical medical device system includes a device body portion having a plurality of contacts operably coupled to discrete channels of electronics. One or more swappable headers may be attached to the device body portion by an end user, such as an implanting physician, to operably couple internal lead receptacle contacts in the header to the contacts of the device body portion. The swappable headers may have lead receptacles configured to receive differing types or combinations of leads, allowing an end user to select one or more appropriate headers as desired.

A medical electrical lead system includes an electrical signal generator providing a plurality of discrete electrical signal channels and an electrical signal channel router electrically coupled between the electrical signal generator and a first lead body and a second lead body. The electrical signal channel router diverts one of the discrete electrical signal channels to the second lead body and not to the first lead body.

An adapter for coupling a pair of implantable neurostimulator lead extension plugs to a connector port of a neurostimulator device includes a connector coupled to a first end of an elongate body and a flexible bifurcation member coupled to a second end of the elongate body, wherein the bifurcation member includes a first branch, to which a first housing, having first and second ports, is coupled, and a second branch, to which a second housing, having first and second ports, is coupled. Openings of the first and second ports of each housing provide for side-by-side insertion of first and second connector terminals of one of the lead extension plugs. Contacts within each port provide for electrical coupling with corresponding contacts of the connector terminals of the plug, and are coupled to corresponding contacts of the adapter connector via conductors extending within the elongate body between the corresponding housing and connector.

An adapter for coupling a plug of an implantable neurostimulator lead extension to a connector port of a neurostimulator device includes an elongate body, a connector including a plurality of contacts coupled to a first end of the elongate body, and a housing including at least two ports coupled to a second end of the elongate body. The adapter connector contacts provide for electrical coupling within the device port, and the adapter housing ports are arranged to receive side-by-side connector terminals of the lead extension plug. Housing contacts within each port provide for electrical coupling with corresponding contacts of the connector terminals of the lead extension plug and are coupled to corresponding contacts of the adapter connector via conductors extending within the elongate body between the housing and the connector.

Housing contacts within each port provide for electrical coupling with corresponding contacts of the connector terminals of the lead extension plug and are coupled to corresponding contacts of the adapter connector via conductors extending within the elongate body between the housing and the connector.
