A wearable sweat sensing device configured to be placed on a wearer's skin includes a sensor component, including at least one analyte-specific sensor for measuring a target analyte in sweat, and at least one electromagnetic shield to protect at least a portion of the sensor component from electromagnetic interference. The at least one electromagnetic shield may include a first electromagnetic shield for protecting the sensor component from electromagnetic interference originating outside the wearer's body and a second electromagnetic shield for protecting the sensor component from electromagnetic interference originating from the wearer's body or propagating through the wearer's body.

Sweat sensing devices with electromagnetically shielded sensors, interconnects, and electronics

Devices and methods for measuring an analyte. A sensing device includes a sensor and a detection circuit operatively coupled to the sensor. The sensor includes a working electrode having an aptamer and an attached redox couple to electrochemically measure the analyte. The detection circuit is configured to apply a first scan having a first scan range to the sensor, and determine a position of a redox peak in the first scan. In response to the first scan range not matching the position of the redox peak, the detector circuit defines a second scan range that matches the position of the redox peak, and applies a second scan having the second scan range to the sensor.

Aptamer sensors with reference and counter voltage control

A sweat sensing device () comprises at least one sweat generation unit () capable of initiating sudomotor axon reflex (SAR) sweating in an indirect stimulation region and at least one analysis unit () capable of sensing a physiological parameter of sweat, collecting a sweat sample, or a combination thereof. The at least one analysis unit () is located above the indirect stimulation region when the sweat sensing device is placed on skin.

Devices for integrated indirect sweat stimulation and sensing

A method for stimulating and sensing sweat includes dosing a sweat stimulant to skin effective to generate sweat at a generation rate of at least 0.1 nL/min/gland for a duration of six hours or more per dose of the sweat stimulant, and sensing generated sweat using a device placed on the skin comprising at least one sensor specific to an analyte in sweat. The dosing comprises at least one of: applying a charge density of less than 320 mC/cm/day or applying a one-time dose of the sweat stimulant.

Methods and materials for prolonged sweat stimulation

A sensing device for detecting a characteristic of an analyte in a sample solution and method of making the same is provided. The device includes one or more sensors configured to measure a characteristic of an analyte in a sample. The device further includes a sample solution that contains the analyte and one or more interfering solutes, wherein the interfering solute reduces a performance characteristic of the one or more sensors. The device further includes a sensor solution in fluidic communication with the one or more sensors. The device further includes a hydrophobic barrier that separates the sample solution from the one or more sensors, wherein the hydrophobic barrier is permeable to the analyte and impermeable to the interfering solute, and wherein the hydrophobic barrier is in fluidic communication with the sample solution and the sensor solution.

Membrane enhanced sensors

Devices and methods for sensing analytes in a solution sample are provided. The device includes a substrate, a conversion component configured to convert the analyte in the sample solution into a metabolite, and an aptamer sensor configured to measure a presence of the metabolite, the aptamer sensor located on the substrate.

Hybrid enzymatic aptamer sensors

Devices and methods are described herein for directly and accurately measuring sweat flow rates using miniaturized thermal flow rate sensors. The devices () include the flow rate sensors () in or adjacent to a microfluidic component () of a wearable sweat sensing device. The devices and methods optimize the sensitivity of the flow rate sensors, while minimizing the presence of noise, in order to accurately and directly measure sweat flow rates.

Sweat rate measurement devices

A systemfor sensing one or more analytes in a first biofluid and a second biofluid and methods of using said system. The systemmay include a first subsystemwith a first sensorfor sensing a first analyte in the first biofluid and a second subsystemwith a second sensorfor sensing a second analyte in the second biofluid. The second analyte may be the same as or different from the first analyte and the second biofluid may be different from the first biofluid. In an embodiment, the first biofluid is a non-sweat biofluid and the second biofluid is sweat. The systemmay be used to detect lag time for measuring an analyte in one of the biofluids.

Sweat biosensing companion devices and subsystems

A laminate which can serve as either a smart window or a smart mirror is formed using first and second substrates coated with transparent first and second electrodes which are separated by foraminous layer and a third grid-like linear electrode insulated from the first and second electrodes. The foraminous layer includes spacers defining a cell space which is filled with a colloidal ink having first and second particles. The first particles have a positive charge and a first color and second particles having a negative charge and a second color different from the first color. By altering the voltages of the first, second and third electrodes, one can achieve different light transmission characteristics which, for example, can alter the color temperature of the light transmitted through the laminate or enhance reflective colors.

Described are methods and devices () for measuring a sweat property of skin () in response to at least one test material or component (). Embodiments of the device include a plurality of different sweat stimulation sites. The Sweat stimulation sites may include one or more sweat stimulant reservoirs () configured to deliver a sweat stimulant to the surface of the skin (). Embodiments may also include at least one electrode () for measuring a sweat property or to iontophoretically deliver the sweat stimulant from the reservoir (). In embodiments, the sweat stimulant is selected from acetylcholine, carbachol, methacholine, bethanechol, muscarine, pilocarpine, oxotremorine, and combinations thereof.

Skin product sweat testing devices and methods

Described are devices for and methods of modulating a fluid sample. The devices () include at least one sample-modulating component (, and) and, in some embodiments, two or more sample-modulating components. The sample-modulating components are each capable of performing a function selected from the following group: concentrating the sample to increase a concentration of a first constituent of the sample; diluting the sample to decrease a concentration of a second constituent in of the sample; desalinating the sample to decrease the total moles of salt in the sample volume or causing a temporary decrease in the osmolarity; adjusting pH of the sample to bring a pH of the sample into a predetermined range; absorbing one or more nonpolar substances to decrease a concentration of the nonpolar substances; and delivering one or more reagents to the sample to provide a desired concentration of the reagent in the sample.

Devices and methods for processing fluid samples

A device for determining the amount or concentration of an analyte in a fluid sample and a flow rate of the fluid sample in a channel is provided. The device includes a chamber including a channel and an opening the channel in fluid communication with the opening. The device further includes a wicking component positioned adjacent to the opening configured to receive an amount of fluid from the channel. The device may further include an analyte sensor positioned on the wicking component, the analyte sensor configured to detect an analyte in fluid in contact with the analyte sensor, wherein the wicking component is configured to contact the amount of fluid with the analyte sensor. Alternatively the device may include at least one pair of electrodes configured to determine a flow rate of the fluid in the channel.

Discrete volume dispensing system flow rate and analyte sensor

Biological chemicals, potentially found in blood are measured by collecting sweat and determining the concentration or meaning of the selected chemical in sweat. The sweat can be collected using a time based, interval collector and analyzed using an external device. It can also be collected on a one time basis, using a flexible, chemical capacitor, or on a continuous basis using a chemical, field effect transducer.

Sweat simulation, collecting and sensing systems

The present invention provides a biofluid sensing device capable of concentrating a biofluid sample with respect to a target analyte, so that the analyte can be accurately detected or measured by EAB sensors. Methods for using such a device provide qualitative information about the presence of the analyte, and/or quantitative information about relative concentrations of the analyte in the biofluid. The disclosed device includes a concentration channel for concentrating the biofluid sample, as well as a selectively permeable membrane, one or more EAB sensors, and one or more secondary sensors carried on a water-impermeable substrate. A method for using the disclosed device to collect a biofluid sample, concentrate the sample relative to a target analyte, and measure the target analyte is also disclosed.
