A server rack is cabled to obviate the need for top-of-rack switches. Switches and severs are connected through de-mateable connection interfaces at distribution modules disposed along the raceway above the server cabinets. The distribution modules may have externally accessible ports, internally accessible ports, and/or payout spools for the switch cables and/or the server cables.

Managing cables in fiber installation

Port occupancy detection for connector panels is provided. In one embodiment, a connector panel comprises: a communications unit communicatively coupled to a network; and at least one modular port adapter assembly comprising: a plurality of communications couplers; and a plurality of port occupancy sensors each coupled to a sensor circuit. Each of the port occupancy sensors are configured to sense when the couplers are occupied. The panel communications unit obtains from the sensor circuit which of the couplers are occupied. The panel communications unit communicates port occupancy information to a gateway indicating circuit which of the couplers are occupied. A chassis including sidewalls extends between a front and a rear to define an interior, and including guides on the sidewalls. A plurality of blades mounted to the guides of the chassis, each blade including a midplane bus assembly configured to communicatively couple the sensor circuit to the panel communication unit.

Port occupancy detection for high density panels

A system providing connectivity management is provided. The system comprises: a content management server configured to manage connectivity for a network; one or more central controllers configured to collect connectivity information for at least a portion of the network for use by the content management server; and at least one outlet having one or more ports for receiving one or more plugs, wherein connectivity information is communicated between the outlet and the central controller through one or more wireless communication interface.

Systems and methods for managed connectivity wall outlets using low energy wireless communication

One embodiment is directed to a method comprising obtaining, using a portable device, identifier information about one or more identifiers associated with one or more of a rack and equipment installed in the rack and displaying on the portable device a picture of the rack captured and displaying on the portable device an overlay that includes markings that define a perimeter of the rack and a plurality of equipment positions within the rack. The method further comprises receiving, by the portable device, an alignment of the overlay on the picture of the rack and the equipment positions and receiving location information for the rack. The method further comprises storing the picture of the rack, the alignment of the overlay on the picture of the rack, the identifier location, and the location information by a management application. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Method of capturing information about a rack and equipment installed therein

A system for identifying a cable end is provided. The system comprises: a near end for the cable, wherein the near end is visible; a far end for the cable, wherein the far end is in a hidden location; a cover assembly connected to the far end of the cable, wherein the cover assembly includes a near field communication device and a transponder, wherein the near field communication device transmits a signal through the transponder; and a device configured to communicate with the near field communication device, and further configured to facilitate a user to find the location of the cap connected to the far end.
