A technique includes running a seat assembly on a conveyance line into a tubing string, which has previously been installed in a well. The seat assembly includes a seat, which is adapted to receive an untethered object. The technique includes attaching the seat assembly to the string at a location downhole in the well; receiving the object to create a fluid barrier; and diverting fluid using the fluid barrier.

Completing a multi-stage well

A technique that is usable with a well includes deploying a seat assembly into a tubing string; releasing the seat assembly at a downhole location inside the tubing string; pumping the seat assembly to a restriction in the tubing string at a second downhole location; and using an untethered object received in a seat assembly to form an obstruction in the tubing string.

Deploying an expandable downhole seat assembly

Plugs are deployed along a wellbore to form fluid barriers for associated stages. The plugs include a first plug that includes a first material that reacts with a first agent and does not react with a second agent and a second plug that includes a second material that reacts with the second agent and does not react with the first agent. A first stimulation operation is performed in the stage that is associated with the first plug; and a first agent is communicated into the well to react with the first material to remove the first plug. A second stimulation operation is performed in the stage that is associated with the second plug. The second agent is communicated into the well to react with the second material to remove the second plug.

Performing multi-stage well operations

The invention provides a method of stimulation a subterranean formation to improve formation fluid production, the method comprising: providing a wellbore which penetrates the subterranean formation, wherein the wellbore comprises at least two perforation cluster zones; injecting a treatment fluid into the wellbore at a fluid pressure equal to or greater than the fracture initiate pressure of the subterranean formation; contacting the subterranean formation with the treatment fluid through a first perforation cluster zone; performing a shutin by stopping injection of the treatment fluid; waiting for a determined period of time, wherein no physical material is introduced into the wellbore and no significant reverse flow from the subterranean formation to the wellbore occurs during said period of time; resuming the introduction of the treatment fluid into the wellbore at a fluid pressure equal to or greater than the fracture initiate pressure of the subterranean formation; and contacting the subterranean formation with the treatment fluid through a second perforation cluster zone.

Rate induced diversion for multi-stage stimulation

A technique includes deploying a string that includes a seat assembly in a well; and running a shifting tool in a passageway of the string. The shifting tool shifts the seat assembly to cause the seat assembly to transition between a first state in which the seat assembly forms a seat that is adapted to allow an untethered object communicated in the passageway of the string to pass through the seat assembly to a second state in which the seat assembly is adapted to catch the object to form a fluid barrier in the string. The fluid barrier is used to divert fluid in the tubing string to perform, for example, a stimulation operation.

Method and apparatus for completing a multi-stage well

A technique provides a system and methodology for treating a plurality of zones, e.g. well zones. A plurality of flow control devices is located along a tubular structure, such as a well string in a wellbore. Each flow control device or each set of flow control devices comprises a seat member having a unique profile relative to the profiles of the other flow control devices. Drop objects are designed with engagement features arranged to engage the profiles of specific flow control devices. For example, each drop object may have an engagement feature of a corresponding profile designed to engage the unique profile of a specific flow control device or of a specific set of flow control devices to enable actuation of the specific flow control device or the specific set of flow control devices once the drop object is dropped through the tubular structure.
