Disclosed example power supplies, user interfaces, and methods are provided for intuitive or automatic control of welding parameter output ranges. The disclosed systems and methods provide tools for setup of configurable and/or default settings for a welding power source and/or wire feeder. Weld settings include upper and lower limits for an operating range corresponding to one or more welding parameters, such that a welding parameter value is bound by the upper and lower limits during a welding operation. In some examples, the operating range, and the corresponding upper and lower limits, are calculated or determined based on a selected range tolerance.

Systems and methods for automatic control of welding parameter output ranges

Disclosed are welding systems and methods for conducting a completed circuit testing process. The welding system includes a power source to deliver power via one or more power outlets. Control circuitry receives an input to initiate a welding process and to command the power source to deliver a power signal with a current below a threshold level. The control circuitry monitors characteristics of the power signal at the one or more power outlets and determines whether a completed circuit condition exists. The control circuitry performs this determination based on information obtained through monitoring the characteristics of the power signal. The control circuitry controls the power source to prevent delivery of power if a completed circuit condition exists.

Welding power supplies and method for completed circuit testing process

A motion detection system having detection circuitry, motion recognition circuitry, and communication circuitry is provided. The detection circuitry is configured to detect gestures or motions of a welding system operator. In some embodiments, the detection circuitry is configured to detect gestures or motions of a welding operator via an accessory device, where the accessory device is in wireless communication with the motion detection system. The motion recognition circuitry receives the detected gestures or motions, and translates the detected gestures or motions into a welding command. The welding command is communicated to a welding system via the communications circuitry, and is configured to adjust an operating parameter of the welding system.

Systems and methods for gesture control of a welding system

A method and apparatus for providing welding-type power is disclosed. The system includes a power supply, a wire feeder, and a controller. The wire feed speed is reduced when the input current exceeds a value to prevent tripping circuit breakers on the power line the welder is connected to. The speed reduction is based on an average current draw exceeding a threshold. The output voltage is reduced if the input current exceeds a second threshold.

System and method for welding with input current limiting

Apparatus, systems, and methods for increasing the lifespan of welding cable covers are described. In some examples, a cable cover is wrapped around a welding cable to protect the welding cable from hazards of the welding environment. Complementary fasteners attached to the cable cover are fastened together to hold the cable cover in place around the welding cable. The fasteners are arranged and the cable cover is wrapped such that a protective region of the cable cover overlaps with the fasteners, shielding vulnerable stitching used to attach the fasteners to the cable cover. This added protection may prolong the time that fasteners remain attached to a cable cover, thereby prolonging the usable life of the cable cover, and/or prolonging the life of the welding cable(s) protected by the cable cover.

Apparatus, systems, and methods for increasing the lifespan of welding cable covers

A power conversion assembly for use in a welding power supply includes a power magnetics module and a power electronics module. The power magnetics module includes at least one transformer disposed on a first wind tunnel housing. The power electronics module is separate from and electrically coupled to the power magnetics module. The power electronics module includes switching circuitry and one or more heat sinks to remove heat from the switching circuitry. The switching circuitry and the heat sinks are disposed on a second wind tunnel housing coupled to the first wind tunnel housing.

Modular power conversion system and method

A power supply for welding, cutting and similar operations includes a dual two-switch forward converter. The converter has two inverter circuits coupled in parallel but controlled to provide output power in an interleaved fashion. To avoid 'walking' of the circuits (which could result in different duty cycles and imbalance of the load sharing), control signals are determined and applied to a first of the inverter circuits, and 'on' times of the first circuit is monitored, such as by augmenting a counter to determine the number of clock cycles the first circuit is &#x201c;on&#x201d;. The same duration is then used for commanding output from the second inverter circuit. The duty cycles of both circuits is thus ensured to be the same regardless of changes in the total output power.

Metal working power supply converter system and method

A system and method for automatic detection of a connection of a spool gun to a welding system. In addition to automatically detecting connection of the spool gun, a system and method is provided for controlling the operation of the welding system based on the detection of the spool gun.
