An apparatus and related method for determining the optical density and/or change in optical density of a reaction mixture in an agitated vessel or container. The apparatus may include at least one electromagnetic emitter configured to pass radiation through the reaction mixture to at least one receptor, whereby the receptor receives the transmitted or scattered light, while the reaction mixture is subjected to shaking. The emitters may have an interchangeable association with the vessel or container and/or the receptors may have an interchangeable association with the vessel or container. Further, a processor may be provided to receive the transmitted or scattered light data and filter to eliminate or reduce the effect of the frequency at which the reaction mixture is shaken. The processor analyzes the filtered data to provide the optical density and/or change in optical density of the reaction mixture.

Optical density system and related method thereof

A multi-well plate reader including an emitter assembly having a plurality of emitters and a receptor assembly including a plurality of receptors separated by at least one spacer element such that a multi-well plate can be inserted between the emitter assembly and the receptor assembly. The emitters and receptors are paired and arranged in parallel arrays such that electromagnetic radiation can be transmitted through each well of the multi-well plate to a corresponding receptor to determine the opacity of the biological material contained within the well. Each well of the multi-well plate can be evaluated by a different emitter receptor pair allowing the entire multi-well plate to be efficiently monitored at a high throughput.

Miniaturized multiwell plate reader for phenotypic screening

The present invention provides a novel method called Sequential IMmunoPeroxidase Labeling and Erasing (SIMPLE) that enables the simultaneous visualization of at least five markers within a single tissue section. Utilizing the alcohol-soluble peroxidase substrate 3-amino-9-ethylcarbazole (AEC), combined with a rapid non-destructive method for antibody-antigen dissociation, the present application discloses the ability to erase the results of a single immunohistochemical stain while preserving tissue antigenicity for repeated rounds of labeling. The present invention also provides methods for visualizing multiple antigens simultaneously.
