A portable insulin pump can integrate and display data from a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to allow a user to more readily determine whether any interaction with the pump is necessary. Data from the CGM can automatically be transmitted to the pump and can be displayed for user analysis or automatically analyzed to present recommendations to the user based on combined data from the CGM and the pump.

Inadvertent activation of a portable medical device such as an ambulatory infusion pump can be reduced by locking a touchscreen of the device when it is indicated that an uninterrupted operation is to be performed. When a processor receives a device operation input from the touchscreen that indicates an uninterrupted operation is to be performed on the portable device, the touchscreen is automatically locked such that touch input at the touchscreen is not processed by the processor to navigate between or among menu screens or set pump parameters. Following completion of the uninterrupted operation, the touchscreen can be unlocked. In one embodiment, the touchscreen can be unlocked by selection of an unlock icon on the touchscreen.

System and method for reduction of inadvertent activation of medical device during manipulation

Embodiments of the present disclosure enable a user-wearable infusion pump that may have a limited user interface including no display to execute and provide feedback on a number of functions. A remote control device having a display can be used to control the infusion pump. The infusion pump can include one or more indicator lights that can be indicate different statuses with different light patterns. The remote control device can include a display screen that provides further information relating to various pump statuses.
