An intervertebral spacer is inserted between vertebral members in a compact configuration and expanded post-insertion to contact the adjacent vertebral members. The intervertebral spacer comprises a first member and a second member movable with respect to the first member between retracted and extended positions.

Expandable intervertebral spacers and methods of use

Vertebral implants that may be movable between collapsed and expanded orientations to space apart first and second vertebral members. The implants may include first and second contact surfaces to contact against the vertebral members. The implants may include nested struts. The implants may have a first height measured between the contact surfaces in the collapsed orientation with a first amount of overlap in the struts. The implants may have a second height in the expanded orientation with a lesser amount of overlap in the struts.

Implant with nested members and methods of use

An implantable medical device may include an implant member having an aperture extending therethrough. An anchor member may be configured to extend through the aperture. A locking ring may be supplied to inhibit back-out of the anchor member.

Anchor member locking features

An intervertebral spacer for positioning between vertebral members. The spacer may include contact surfaces that are configured to contact against the vertebral members. A fluid cylinder may be positioned between the first and second contact surfaces and configured to contain a fluid. The fluid cylinder may include an outer cylinder with an open first end that telescopingly receives an inner cylinder. The spacer is configured to maintain the distance between the contact surfaces at a desired amount.

Intervertebral implants configured to engage with an insertion device for insertion between first and second vertebral members. The implants may include a body with a sidewall that forms an interior space. An opening may extend through the sidewall and into the interior space. Receptacles may be positioned at the opening and include an inlet to receive the insertion device.

Adjustable insertion device for a vertebral implant

The present application is directed to self-locking surgical fasteners. The fastener generally includes a shaft section, a head section, and one or more locking members. The locking members may be located within the head section. A first portion of the locking members may extend beyond an outer surface of the head section, and a second portion of the locking members may extend into a hollow interior of the head section. A tool used to insert the fastener into the patient engages a receiver portion of the fastener. As the insertion tool engages the receiver, the tool may contact and exert a force on the locking member such that the first portion of the locking member may be retracted within the head section. Upon disengaging the insertion tool from the receiver, the locking member may return to the position extending outward beyond the outer surface of the head section.

Self-locking surgical fastener

Vertebral implants for spacing apart vertebral members. The implants may include a spacer with a first side and a second side that contact the vertebral members. A sidewall may extend between the first and second sides. Two or more mounts are positioned along the sidewall. A flange may be connected to the spacer at the mounts. The flange extends beyond one or both of the first and second sides to position the spacer relative to the vertebral members. In some embodiments, the spacer further includes one or more insertion features that facilitate insertion of the spacer between the vertebral members.

Intervertebral implants with attachable flanges and methods of use

An implant for insertion between vertebral members may include a first member with a first contact surface to contact the first vertebral member, and a second member with a second contact surface to contact the second vertebral member. A material may be secured to and extend between each of the first and second members. An interior space may be formed between the first and second members and the material. An inflatable member may be positioned within the interior space and may be inflatable upon the introduction of a substance into inflatable member. The inflatable member may be inflatable between a first size to space the first and second members a first distance apart and an enlarged second size to space the first and second members a second greater distance apart.

Expandable vertebral implant and methods of use

Methods and devices for connecting an insertion device to an implant. The insertion device includes a body having first and second ends. The first end may be configured to connect with the implant. The first end may be selectively positionable between orientations to provide for the connection. Methods of positioning the implant within the patient generally include connecting the insertion device to the implant. The insertion device can then be manipulating to position the implant within the patient. The insertion device is removed from the implant once positioned, or may be reconnected at another location to further position the implant.

A vertebral implant for insertion into a patient includes first and second end members that include recesses for engaging a spacer member and a distractor. The end plates include a bone contact surface and an oppositely facing surface. A peripheral surface extends around a perimeter of the end members. The recesses may extend inward from the oppositely facing surfaces. Further, the recesses may extend inward from the peripheral surfaces. The recesses for engaging the spacer member and distractor may be separate from each other or may intersect one another. A spacer may engage the end plates to establish a desired vertebral spacing. The spacer may be positioned between the implants after a desired distraction is obtained with a distractor that engages the end plates.

Expandable vertebral body implants and methods of use

The application is directed to implants that are adjustable between collapsed and expanded orientations. The collapsed orientation includes a smaller height to facilitate insertion into the patient. The expanded orientation includes a larger height for spacing and/or supporting the vertebral members. The implants generally include three or more separate sections that are nested together in the collapsed orientation. The sections move outward away from each other in the expanded orientation. An expansion means may be operatively connected to one or more of the sections to move the implants between the orientations. Methods of use are also included for moving the implants between the collapsed and expanded orientations.
