Embodiments of apparatuses and methods for conversion of mercaptans are provided. In one example, an apparatus comprises a vessel that is capable to receive a feed stream that comprises liquid hydrocarbons and the mercaptans. The vessel comprises a catalyst bed section that is capable of contacting the feed stream with a catalyst in the presence of oxygen (O) and caustic at reaction conditions effective to oxidize the mercaptans and form a caustic-containing, sweetened liquid hydrocarbon-containing stream. A coalescing bed section is capable to coalesce and separate at least a portion of the caustic from the caustic-containing, sweetened liquid hydrocarbon-containing stream for forming a caustic-depleted, sweetened liquid hydrocarbon-containing product stream.

Apparatuses and methods for conversion of mercaptans

Embodiments of apparatuses and methods for treating mercaptans are provided. In one example, an apparatus comprises a vessel capable of receiving a feed stream that comprises liquid hydrocarbons and the mercaptans. The vessel comprises an extraction section that is capable of extracting a portion of the mercaptans from the feed stream to form a mercaptan-reduced, liquid hydrocarbon-containing stream. A catalyst bed section is capable of contacting the mercaptan-reduced, liquid hydrocarbon-containing stream with a catalyst in the presence of oxygen (O) and caustic at reaction conditions effective to oxidize a remaining portion of the mercaptans and form a sweetened liquid hydrocarbon-containing stream.

Apparatuses and methods for treating mercaptans

One exemplary embodiment can be a process for purifying a disulfide oil. The process can include obtaining at least a portion of a disulfide oil coalesced from an alkaline stream, and passing the at least a portion of the disulfide oil through a mesh for recovering a purified disulfide oil stream.

Process for purifying a disulfide oil and an apparatus relating thereto

One exemplary embodiment can be a process for removing one or more sulfur-containing hydrocarbons. The process can include sending a stream including one or more alkaline compounds, one or more hydrocarbons, and one or more sulfur compounds to a stack of a disulfide separator, and sending a fluid downstream of a distributor to a vortex contacting device for providing a gas having no more than about 100 ppm, by weight, sulfur. Often, the stack includes one or more walls surrounding a void and the distributor positioned within the void, and is adapted to receive the stream having one or more phases.

Process, vessel, and apparatus for removing one or more sulfur compounds

One exemplary embodiment can be a process for oxidizing one or more thiol compounds from an alkaline stream. The process may include passing a mixed stream having the alkaline stream to an oxidation vessel having a body and a neck. Often, the body contains one or more packing elements and the neck contains a packing, a distributor, and a mesh. The process can further include passing an oxidized alkaline stream to a separation vessel containing a first chamber and a second chamber. Usually, the first chamber contains a coated mesh.
