A segmented pulley transmission with an actuator system is disclosed. The actuator system comprises: an engaging deflector radially movable between first active and idle positions; a disengaging deflector radially movable between second active and idle positions; and a motivator assembly for moving the engaging and disengaging deflectors between the active and idle positions. In the first active position, the engaging deflector is configured to move a plurality of pulley segments of the segmented pulley transmission from a disengaged region to an engaged region during rotational operation of the segmented pulley transmission. In the second active position, the disengaging deflector is configured to move the plurality of pulley segments from the engaged region to the disengaged region during rotational operation. In the first and second idle positions respectively, the engaging deflector and the disengaging deflector do not move the plurality of pulley segments during rotational operation of the segmented pulley transmission.

Segmented pulley transmission and actuator system for the same

A pulverizer comprising: a housing having top and bottom ends, an inlet located towards the top end for receiving input material to pulverize and an outlet located towards the bottom end for discharging pulverized material from the housing, the housing including a housing sidewall defining an interior chamber and having a central housing axis: a rotatable shaft extending along the central housing axis: a plurality of rotor hub assemblies mounted to the shaft, each rotor hub assembly including a rotor hub and a plurality of rotor arms extending outwardly from the rotor for forming an airflow revolving about the central housing axis within the interior chamber, wherein at least one of the housing and of one or more of the rotor hub assemblies is selectively reconfigurable between a plurality of configurations to adjust at least one parameter of an output flow of the pulverized material at the outlet.

Pulverizer with output flow control and methods for controlling output flow in a pulverizer

A pulverizer may have such features as a drum having a top and bottom, a rotating shaft extending vertically in the drum having radially extending arms that create flow currents within the pulverizer to size reduce a material, and a dust collection system coupled to the outlet for extracting air and dust from the size reduced material. The pulverizer may have an ability to detect wrapping as well as possibly deter wrapping. A processor may also adjust the speed of rotation of the arms within the pulverizer and/or the speed of feed of input for various considerations. In fact the rotation direction may be reversed for at least brief periods of time in an effort to remove wrapped material. Vibration may also be sensed and efforts to prevent damage may be instigated by a processor.

Pulverizer system

A transmission is provided comprising: a first pulley assembly rotatable about a first axis; a second pulley assembly rotatable about a second axis; an endless member coupling the first pulley assembly and the second pulley assembly; an idler pulley engaging the endless member and rotatable about an idler axis, the idler pulley being movable between a first position and a second position; a tensioner assembly coupled to the idler pulley, configured to control tension in the endless member and comprising: a tensioner spring having a spring axis and biasing the idler pulley towards the second position; and a tensioner arm rotatable about a tensioner axis and coupling the tensioner spring to the idler pulley, the tensioner arm defining a spring linkage extending between the tensioner axis and a spring coupling point, wherein a spring angle is defined between the spring axis and the spring linkage.

Transmission

A receiving disk for a segmented pulley transmission is provided. The receiving disk comprises: a generally circular body having a pulley facing side and a rear side, opposite the pulley facing side; at least one mating feature located at the pulley facing side of the body, the mating feature being configured to engage a complimentary mating feature, which is secured to a pulley segment of the segmented pulley transmission, when the pulley segment is in an engaged region; and at least one securing feature located in proximity to the mating feature and configured to secure the complimentary mating feature, when the complimentary mating feature is engaged with the mating feature. A segmented pulley transmission comprising the receiving disk is further provided.

An actuator system for moving a plurality of pulley segments of a segmented pulley between an engaged region and a disengaged region is provided. The actuator system comprises: a deflector configured to rotate at least between a first position and a second position; and a plurality of followers, each of the followers comprising a protrusion configured to engage the deflector to move the respective one of the pulley segments between the engaged region and the disengaged region, wherein the deflector is configured to move between the first position and the second position to selectively engage the plurality of followers and direct each of the followers between an engaged position and a disengaged position, to move the plurality of pulley segments between the engaged region and the disengaged region. A segmented pulley transmission comprising the actuator system is further provided.

Actuator system and segmented pulley transmission including the same

A segmented pulley defining an outer peripheral surface for engaging an endless member of a segmented pulley transmission is provided. The segmented pulley comprises: a plurality of pulley segments configured to be sequentially movable between an engaged region and a disengaged region to transition the endless member between the segmented pulley and a concentric pulley in the segmented pulley transmission, each of the pulley segments having a body defining a portion of the outer peripheral surface. The plurality of pulley segments includes a transition segment having an integrated support extending from the body of the transition segment, the integrated support being configured to support the endless member when transitioning the endless member between the segmented pulley and the adjacent pulley in the segmented pulley transmission. A segmented pulley transmission comprising the segmented pulley is further provided.

Segmented pulley and segmented pulley transmission including the same

A pulverizer has arms connected to a vertically oriented rotating shaft at hubs. The arms are angled relative to radians extending from the shaft to be canted or offset. Pads can be oversized relative to the arms while being one of coplanar with the arms or recessed while possibly also having their radially inward face(s) angled to assist in resisting catching material thereon. A mechanical fuse connection can assist in connecting arms to the hub to prevent dangerous situations as well.

Centrifugal pulverizing mill

A pulverizer for reducing a size of input material particles having a housing, a rotatable shaft with rotor arms and at least one airflow deflector cooperating with the rotor arms to deflect airflow within the pulverizer so as to form at least two overlapping vortices within the interior chamber such that input material particles in suspension in both overlapping vortices collide with each other to be thereby pulverized. The pulverizer also having a housing liner including a plurality of housing liner portions attached to and extending along a outer structural wall of the housing. The pulverizer also having a housing sidewall having an outer structural wall with a plurality of wall sections. The pulverizer also having canted rotor arms and rotor arms with removable wear pads. An anti-caking device for a vessel such as a pulverizer is also provided.

Pulverizer systems and methods for pulverizing material

A pulverizer may have such features as an ability to detect wrapping as well as possibly deter wrapping. A pulverizer is provided having a top having an inlet and a bottom having an outlet. A modular drum has a drum housing wall with a plurality of planar panel portions extending between the top and the bottom and connected together. A drum liner is disposed inside the drum housing wall, the drum liner including a plurality drum liner portions to attached to the planar panel portions, each drum liner portion being at least partially planar and extending along a corresponding planar panel portion, each drum liner portion being detachable from the planar panel portion independently from the other drum liner portions. A rotating shaft is mounted within the modular drum and has radially extending arms creating flow currents within the pulverizer for reducing a size of product input fed into the inlet and producing a size reduced material that is discharged through the outlet.

Modular pulverizer

An anti-caking device has a plunger with a plunger head moveable between first and second positions. In the first position, the plunger head forms a surface with the housing, and in the second position, the plunger head is moved to provide at least a crack around its perimeter relative to the housing, whereby fluid proceeds from a fluid supply through the crack to assist in dislodging caked on material on the surface. Preferably, relatively low pressure fluid is utilized in many embodiments.

A fluid pumping system for a vehicle having an internal combustion engine includes a housing, an electric motor, a controller to control the speed of the electric motor, a planetary gearset including a first member adapted to be driven by the internal combustion engine, a second member driven by the electric motor and a third member. A pump is driven by the third member of the planetary gearset. The housing contains the electric motor, the pump and the controller.

Dual power input fluid pump

A transmission for use in a motor vehicle having an engine and a driveline is provided. The transmission includes an input shaft driven by the engine, an output shaft adapted for connection to the driveline, a mainshaft, a first planetary gearset, a motor/generator and a second planetary gearset. The first planetary gearset includes a first input member driven by the input shaft, a first output member driving the mainshaft and a first reaction member. The second planetary gearset includes a second input member, a second output member fixed to the output shaft and a ring gear operable to drive or be driven by the motor/generator. A rotor of the motor/generator circumscribes and is fixed to the ring gear.
