An assembly is disclosed for collecting fluid during a medical or a surgical operation. The assembly can include a canister having an openable lid and a collection liner. The collection liner can include a closed bag portion and an inlet for a collection container. The inlet has a first end and a second end, which opens into the bag portion. The bag portion is placed inside the canister. The first end of the inlet for a collection container extends from between the edge of the canister and the edge of the lid to the outside of the canister when the lid is closed.

The invention relates to a suction bag emptying device () comprising a container () for receiving a suction bag (), the container () having a discharge point for discharging the contents of the suction bag. The invention relates to a suction bag emptying device () comprising a container () with a lid for a suction bag to be placed into the container. The container () has a discharge point () for removal of the contents of the suction bag. The emptying device () is provided with a holder for suspending a suction bag with a lid from the holder by the lid, and a jacket () for lateral support of the suction bag. The lid () of the emptying device () is provided with means for puncturing the lid () of the suction bag () and for supplying pressurized liquid or gas into the suction bag (). The invention also relates to an assembly comprising at least one suction bag () and a suction bag emptying device (), and to a method for emptying the suction bag ().
