The invention is related to electronic devices (), preferably cell phones or handhelds, containing a layer () and a moving mechanism for this layer (), so that the layer () is extractable out of a rest position from the main casing (). The described layer () usually contains a keypad (). According to the invention, the moving mechanism allows the layer () to be extractable out of his rest position in different directions, preferably in two, three, or four directions. The inventive arrangement allows a more comfortable and flexible use of the device.

Cell phone with shiftable keypad

A mobile communication terminal comprises three body elements connected by a multi-functional hinge member for movement from a closed folded operative position to a flipped open first operative position revealing a display carried by one body element and a first keypad carried by a second body element and to a folded keyboard flipped open position revealing an arrangement of keys carried by the third body element and the second body element on the side opposite the first keyboard. The first body element carrying the display is rotated in a plane parallel with the plane of the display to reveal the display for usage with the flipped open folded keyboard in a second operative position.

Mobile communication terminal

A miniaturized user input device or input button () for a computing or communication device, such as a personal digital assistant device or a mobile phone. A user provides inputs to the computing or communication device by inserting an end () of a pen or other indicator instrument () into a receptacle () of the input button () and applying a force, as a result of which the input button () actually or only barely perceptibly moves or deforms. Sensors (-) proximate to the input button () detect the moving or deforming and provide signals corresponding the moving or deforming, and so corresponding to the user input.

Method and apparatus for providing inputs to a communication or computing device

An electronic device comprises a body. An at least partly covering lid is rotatably mounted to the body by a hinge slideably mounted to the body. The lid is rotatable to an open position, in which open position the lid reveals a key-pad of the electronic device positioned in a front side of the electronic device, above a display. The hinge is resiliently mounted to the body, so that the lid is rotatable to a closed position, in which closed position the hinge retreats to be generally invisible by the covering lid.

Invisible double function hinge construction

A cordless telephone handset. The cordless telephone handset has telephone circuitry with a front side. The front side of the telephone circuitry has a top end and a bottom end. A housing is provided having a top shell and a bottom shell where the top shell and the bottom shell are disconnectable. The housing is adapted to substantially enclose the telephone circuitry when the top shell and the bottom shell are mated in a direction from the top end to the bottom end of the telephone circuitry.

User changeable mobile phone cover

An electronic device such as a mobile phone having user changeable composite covers formed by a two-shot process. The covers are removable and are adapted to slide onto and off the electronic device/mobile phone to thereby enclose the electronic device/mobile phone in a water-resistant/dustproof manner. The composite covers include resilient regions with buttons formed therein that cooperate with control elements in the electronic device/mobile phone. The composite covers are formed by a two-shot process that involves the use of a transparent material in a first shot to provide a hard cover having a number of openings there through. The second shot involves the use of the transparent hard cover as a core onto which an elastomeric layer is applied, so that some of the openings in the hard cover have buttons formed thereon, whereas other regions and openings in the cover are not covered.

User changeable electronic device/mobile phone covers and method

The invention involves a mobile phone and strap apparatus for carrying a mobile phone. A mobile phone is provided with openings in the corners of the mobile phone housing through which a flexible line is passed and cooperates with a strap and latch that secures ends of the flexible line. The strap, latch and flexible line are adapted to secure an object between the mobile phone housing, the flexible line and strap when ends of the flexible line are drawn through the latch.
