Various embodiments are directed to a shuttle configured for use in an AS/RS. In various embodiments, the shuttle comprises: a first load arm and a second load arm configured to retractably extend away from a shuttle body in parallel directions, the first and second load arms each being extendable between a retracted configuration and an extended configuration; a load bed including a load area configured to receive the object; and a retractable mechanical finger provided at a distal portion of the first load arm and configured to facilitate handling of the object, the mechanical finger being hingedly connected to the first load arm using a one-way hinge component that defines a portion of the range of rotational movement of the mechanical finger relative to the first load arm and comprising a spring element that facilitates rotational movement of the finger between an expanded finger position and a retracted finger position.

Automated shuttle apparatus and methods of using the same

An article retrieval device includes a pair of loading arms, at least one engagement structure movably attached to at least one of the pair of loading arms, a sensing device coupled with the pair of loading arms, and a computing device operably coupled with the pair of loading arms, the at least one engagement structure, and the sensing device. In an instance in which a sensor data generated by the sensing device indicates that the sensing device is impeded when the pair of loading arms are in a first position proximate a first article, the computing device is configured to (i) cause the pair of loading arms to extend from the first position to a second position that is greater than the first position.

Devices, systems, and methods for article retrieval

Various embodiments are directed to an automated storage and retrieval system and method of operating the same. In various embodiments, an automated storage and retrieval system comprises a plurality of storage aisles, each defined in part by a unidirectional shuttle traffic flow pattern; a plurality of shuttles configured to travel throughout the system to execute materials handling operations; at least one vertical lift; a plurality of inter-aisle shuttle outlet tracks configured to facilitate shuttle traffic flow in at least substantially the same direction, each comprising: a first inter-aisle shuttle outlet track comprising at least one lift interface position to facilitate shuttle traffic flow to at least one vertical lift; and a second inter-aisle shuttle outlet track arranged in an at least substantially parallel configuration relative to the first inter-aisle shuttle outlet track; wherein the inter-aisle shuttle outlet tracks enable shuttle transfer between the first and second inter-aisle shuttle outlet tracks.

Automated shuttle materials handling and storage systems and methods of using the same

The upper level includes an upper level conveyor and one or more upper level container bays configured to receive and present one of the one or more upper level containers. Apparatuses, systems, and methods for providing dynamic control in an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) are provided. For example, an example method may include retrieving throughput data associated with an ASRS, wherein the throughput data comprises at least one of an expected throughput rate or an actual throughput rate associated with the ASRS; retrieving at least one throughput range associated with the ASRS, wherein each of the at least one throughput range comprises an upper throughput limit associated with the ASRS and a lower throughput limit associated with the ASRS; and adjusting at least one speed setting of at least one article transport device of the ASRS based at least in part on the throughput data and the at least one throughput range.

Methods, apparatuses and computer program products for providing dynamic control in automated storage and retrieval systems

Devices, methods, and computer program products for article retrieval are provided. An example article retrieval device includes a frame and a pair of loading arms movably attached to the frame that move between a retracted position and an extended position. The device includes an engagement structure movably attached to at least one of the pair of loading arms that moves between a stored position and a deployed position. The device further includes a sensing device coupled with the pair of loading arms and a computing device operably coupled with the pair of loading arms, the at least one engagement structure, and the sensing device. The computing device causes the pair of loading arms to extend from the retracted position to a position proximate a first article and deploys the at least one engagement structure based upon sensor data generated by the sensing device.

The present disclosure relates to a carriage lift assembly including a mast member, a top and bottom bearing assembly, one or more belt members, one or more belt tensioner assemblies, and one or more carriage assemblies. Each belt tensioner assembly defines a first clamping block and a second clamping block for securing a first and a second end, respectively, of a belt member to provide initial tension, and a pair of bolt members adjusted to move a slidable plate member upon which the second block is coupled to provide final tension. Each carriage assembly is removably attached to a corresponding belt tensioner assembly, and defines a center plate and two side plates. Each side plate defines at least a removable set of guiding wheels and a first set of guiding members.

An object redirection mechanism for a conveying system is provided. The object redirection mechanism is configured to redirect an object moved by the conveying system from a first direction to a second direction. The object redirection mechanism includes an arm tunnel positioned proximate an end of a conveyor configured for moving an object in the first direction. The arm tunnel includes an object stop having an object stopping portion defining at least a first side of the arm tunnel at least substantially parallel with the second direction and configured to engage an object moving in the first direction. The object stopping portion defines at least one finger aperture to enable at least one of the rotationally-retractable fingers to, when aligned with the at least one finger aperture, rotate between a retracted configuration and an extended configuration. A corresponding object conveying system and method of assembling an object stop are provided.

A roller for a conveyor is described. The roller can have a first end, a second end, and a crown defined along a length of the roller between the first end and the second end. The crown of the roller includes a groove defined along an apex portion of the crown. The groove can support an O-ring and the crown can support a flat band mounted over the O-ring in the groove.
