The present invention is a camera system which is usable with a mobile terminal. The camera system includes a lens module and at least one mechanism for changing optical properties by interacting with the lens module. The camera system may be built into the mobile terminal or attached thereto as an external module.

The invention relates to electronic equipment. The equipment includes camera means for forming data from an object located in the imaging direction, in which case the said camera means include at least two camera units (CAM, CAM) and data-processing means, which are arranged to process the data formed using the camera means, in a manner corresponding to the currently selected imaging mode, to form image information. In the equipment, the mutual position of the camera units (CAM, CAM) relative to each other is arranged to be altered to correspond to the current imaging mode.

Electronic equipment and method in electronic equipment for forming image information and a program product or implementation of the method

A light beam is used to illuminate a spot on a lens element which is shifted along the optical axis of an imaging system for auto-focus or optical zoom purposes. The light beam is arranged such that the reflected light beam from the lens element encounters a spot on the image sensor. The spot location on the image sensor is determined by a signal processor. As the lens element is shifted along the optical axis, the spot location changes accordingly. Based on the moving distance of the spot, the signal processor determines the shifting distance of the lens element and hence the position of the lens element. Based on the shifting distance of the lens element, a control module is used to adjust the lens position along the optical axis to achieve the desired focusing or zooming effects.

Method and device for position sensing of an optical component in an imaging system

The invention relates to a shutter for an optical imaging system. An amount of opaque fluid is moved in a planar capillary space to open and close the shutter. Depending on the position of the opaque fluid with respect to an optical path passing through the capillary space, the fluid opens or blocks the optical path. In an embodiment, the opaque fluid is moved by a pressure differential caused by a diaphragm which is coupled to a piezoelectric actuator. In another embodiment, the opaque fluid is moved by electrostatic forces.

Optical shutter

A liquid lens, according to the electrowetting principle, is used in an imaging system to affect the optical axis of the imaging system. In particular, a seal compartment having a first side and an opposing second side is used to dispose a liquid lens on the first side. A plurality of electrode areas are disposed adjacent to the first side and a common electrode is disposed adjacent to the second side. In order to compensate for undesirable image shifting due to hand motion, different voltage levels are applied to the plurality of electrode areas so that the electric field applied on the liquid lens is non-uniform, causing deformation of the liquid lens. The voltage levels are determined such that the shift in the optical axis due to the deformation of the liquid lens substantially cancels out the motion-induced image shift.

Method and device for lateral adjustment of image

A portable device having an optical engine adapted to form an image from an image source in four different modes to allow a viewer to view the image. The image source is a microdisplay device, which can be reflective, transmissive or emissive. The display modes include a near-eye display (NED) mode, a near projection display (NPD) mode, a Window mode that provides a virtual image to a viewer at a distance, and a projection display mode that projects an image on a surface at a distance. The portable device has an internal light source to provide illumination to the image source for the first three modes. The portable device is further adapted to receive the light output from an external light source for use with the fourth mode.
