This document discloses a solution for providing channel usage information. In an embodiment, an apparatus managing a wireless network and being in an unassociated state towards an access node managing another wireless network is provided with the channel usage information. The channel usage information is provided together with a further information element enabling the apparatus to verify that the channel usage information originates from a trusted source.

Indicating channel usage in wireless network

This document discloses a solution for determining distances. In the solution, a first frame is transmitted () to a second apparatus; a second frame is received () from the second apparatus, as response to the first frame; an indication of the duration between the reception time of the first frame and transmission of the second frame is received (); an indication whether the duration is constant or variable is received (); and in case the duration is constant, the distance between the first apparatus and the second apparatus is determined () based at least partly on the indication of the duration.

This document discloses a solution where power management of devices of a wireless networks are controlled in connection with an absence period. According to an aspect, an apparatus determines at least one allowable power management mode for at least a second apparatus; causes transmission of a first frame indicating the at least one allowable power management mode; and causes transmission of an indication of an absence period during which it is not possible to transfer frames with the apparatus, wherein the indication is provided in at least one of the first frame and a second frame. The first frame configures at least the second apparatus to be ready to communicate with the apparatus at the end of the absence period in a case where the at least one allowable power management mode indicates a first power management mode.

Apparatus, method, and computer program product providing improved power management in wireless networks

Various communication systems may benefit from coordination in interworking. For example, certain wireless communication systems may benefit from link setup level coordination, such as coordination between a first radio access technology base station and a terminal that is setting up a link to a second radio access technology. A method may include, for example, determining an allowed link setup level for a terminal. The method may also include communicating the allowed link setup level to the terminal.

Embodiments enable privacy protection for increasing service anonymity. A method comprises receiving a service discovery frame from a wireless device operating synchronously in a neighbor awareness network cluster, including scrambled values associated with service names, each of the scrambled values being a hash of an argument comprising the service name and a component value selected based on a current synchronous time shared with the wireless device. The received scrambled values are compared with scrambled values associated with maintained service names, each being a hash of an argument comprising a valid service name of a known service and a component value selected based on the current synchronous time. If any of the received scrambled values satisfies the comparison with a scrambled value associated with the service name, then the received scrambled value is determined to be associated with the known service.

Method, apparatus, and computer program product for service anonymity

Methods, apparatuses, and computer programs are presented for operation during a network discovery process of a scanning device attempting to detect presence of wireless networks. During the network discovery process, the scanning device itself may transmit scanning messages by using duplicate transmission in which multiple scanning messages are transmitted simultaneously on different channels. According to another aspect, a wireless apparatus of a wireless network may transmit scanning messages by using the duplicate transmission to facilitate the detection of the wireless network by the scanning device.

Methods, apparatuses, and a computer program are presented for determining a reservation period for data transmission in a wireless communication network. The duration of the reservation period is determined on the basis of RTS/CTS handshake between a transmitter and a receiver apparatus.
