A smart synchronizing method of a web inspection system for monitoring a moving web. A synchronizing device, at least one slave camera, and at least one lighting device illuminate an area of the web to be imaged by the cameras. The method includes transmitting a synchronizing signal to the slave camera. The synchronizing signal includes at least a start pulse and serial data including additional information. All the cameras are synchronized with each other based on synchronization moment when integration of cameras end. A light synchronizing signal is transmitted to the at least one lighting device indicating a switching on and off times of the at least one lighting device, which switching off time corresponds to the synchronization moment, and calculating a starting time of integration based on an individual integration time of a camera and the synchronization moment common for cameras of the web inspection system.

Smart synchronization method of a web inspection system

An LED matrix lighting device for illuminating a lighting pattern with even intensity. The LED matrix lighting device includes a plurality of LEDs, a collimating lens in front of each LED for collimating light of the LED, and a light refracting element in front of collimating lenses arranged to refract light of at least a first part of the LEDs with a different refraction angle than at least a second part of the LEDs. The invention relates to a method for illuminating a wood fibre web for deviation detection. The method comprises turning on LEDs of an overhead sidelight that are side-directed towards a first edge of the web for illuminating a first half of width of the web, capturing an image of the first half, turning off the LEDs, turning on LEDs of the overhead sidelight that are side-directed towards a second edge of the web for illuminating a second half of width of the web, capturing an image of the second half, and turning off the LEDs. The invention also relates to an overhead sidelight, a machine vision system, and a lighting system.

The invention relates to a method, comprising illuminating an area of a wood fibre web by directing ultraviolet light to an area of the web by an ultraviolet light source, capturing an image of at least part of the illuminated area by an imaging device comprising a colour filter, transmitting image data of the captured image to an image data processing device, and analysing if the captured image comprises a fluorescent liquid stain emitting fluorescent light passed through the colour filter. The invention further relates to a machine vision system and a computer program product for detecting fluorescent liquid stains from a wood fibre web.

The invention relates to a method, the method comprises exposing an image frame of an object to be monitored by an area image sensor, transmitting a part of the exposed image frame to an image data processing device, analyzing the part and if the part is detected to comprise a predefined event, said image data processing device is arranged to transmit a trigger signal for triggering said area image sensor so that said area image sensor transmits a bigger part of at least one further image frame to said image data processing device for further analysis, and if not the area image sensor continues to expose at least one further image frame and to transmit a part of said at least one exposed further image frame. The invention further relates to a machine vision system for performing the method and a computer program product comprising instructions to perform the method.
