The invention relates to a data transmission in a digital mobile communication system. In a mobile communication system employing a so-called multi-channel access technique, one or more traffic channels may be allocated to a mobile station (MS) for data transfer, in accordance with the data transfer rate required by the application using the mobile station. In the invention, a data call is determined minimum and maximum requirements for the data transfer rate of the user data. The mobile communication network (BSS, MSC) dynamically adjusts (Handover CMD/Additional Assignment) the channel configuration assigned to the mobile station (MS) for the data call and consisting of one or more traffic channels, within the limits of said minimum and maximum requirements of the data channel, depending on the changing allocation state of the resources of the mobile communication network.

High-speed data transmission in a digital mobile communication system

The invention relates to a system for transmitting packet data in the air interface of a digital cellular system based on TDMA, Time Division Multiple Access. The mobile terminated logical channels comprise information channels designated for transmitting information and control channels, which can be a fast paging (FP) channel and an acknowledgement (A) channel. The mobile originated logical channels comprise information channels designated for transmitting information and a reservation (R) channel, whereon the mobile station requests the system to reserve a connection for transmitting packet data. According to the invention, for the TDMA frames there is allocated a variable number of time slots for packet transmission, taking into account the symmetricity/asymmetricity of the packet transmission, as well as the total packet transmission demand of the cell. For fast paging (FP), acknowledgement (A) and reservation (R), there can be employed any of the time slots in the frame allocated for packet transmission. It is advantageous that in each time slot, the subscriber's data is subjected to the same interleaving and forward error coding algorithm, so that the respective time slots of consecutive frames form independent logical sub-channels, which are then reserved for one subscriber according to the needs, and to which the subscriber's data is multiplexed at the beginning of the transmission, and wherefrom it is again demultiplexed after the transmission.

System for transmitting packet data in digital cellular time division multiple access (TDMA) air interface

This invention relates w a method of data transfer via a radio telephone network between a LAN ( ) and a Mobile Station and to a data interface unit that applies the method. According to the method the LAN's data packets are formed, and the RLP control is stripped away from them, in the LAN-controller that is permanent connected to it; the data is packed into date packets in accordance with a data communications protocol and the data communications data packets are inserted into data frames of the radio telephone network when the data is transferred between the radio telephone units. The data interface unit ( ) according to the invention is connected to a LAN-controller ( ) on the side of the LAN ( ). The data interface unit ( ) incorporates a digital radio telephone unit ( ) and a data adapter ( ) for inserting the LAN's date packets into date frames and for extracting the data packets from these data frames when the data is transferred between the LAN and a Mobile Station that is connected to the digital radio telephone network.

Device for personal communications, data collection and data processing, and a circuit card

The invention relates to a method aiming at dynamic division of the radio capacity in a TDMA system dynamically between packet radio service and circuit switched service. According to the invention, some basic number of time slots are reserved for packet radio service and the rest are reserved for circuit switched service. When the traffic requirement of packet radio service increases, information regarding this is obtained by means of a request from a mobile station or through traffic measurement at the base transceiver station. This information is used as a criterion in allocating more time slots to packet radio service.

Dynamic allocation of radio capacity in TDMA system

For bidirectional transmission of packet data, a packet data service unit (Agent) is disposed in a digital time-division cellular network having a plurality of mobile stations and base stations, with at least one Base Transceiver Station (BTS) in each base station (BS) connected via radio communications channels with at least one mobile station (MS), and with a base station controller (BSC) connected to at least one BTS, and a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) connected to at least one BSC, which Agent connects the cellular network to a data network. As a mobile station is connected to the Agent, signalling related to connection formation characteristics of the network is first accomplished. As a result thereof, the mobile station and the Agent are provided with a number of stored parameters relating to each other. This situation creates or is called a virtual channel. On termination of data packet transfer, at least the radio channel part is disassembled but the virtual channel is maintained until the disconnection of the mobile station from the Agent.

Data transmission in a radio telephone network

A data transmission in a digital mobile communication system employing a so-called multi-channel access technique, in which one or more traffic channels may be allocated to a mobile station for data transmission in accordance with the data transfer rate required by the application using the mobile station. Upon establishing a data call, the mobile station indicates to the mobile communication network the maximum and optionally the minimum requirements for the user data transfer rate. The mobile communication network assigns the mobile station for a data call a channel configuration consisting of one or more traffic channels in connection with call set-up or handover, the channel configuration depending on the resources currently available in the mobile communication network and enabling performance of the data channel, which is not lower than the minimum requirement and not higher than the maximum requirement.

A method and a system for expanding the capacity for transmission of information in a data frame which comprises at least an information element and a control element. After the data frame is subjected to channel coding, a portion of the control element is either removed or replaced by a divided portion of the information to be transmitted in the data frame.

Method for enhancing data transmission

In packet switched data transfer of the cellular radio system, the control of the transmission power comprises characteristics as well of the closed-loop control and the open-loop control. Before forming the connection and during long pauses between the packets, the terminal device measures the control signal transmitted by the base station and compares its signal power (R0) to the target level (t0), that is included by the base station in the control signal as a parameter. The base station informs in the control signal also the transmission power, whereby the terminal device sets the same power to be its transmission power, corrected by the difference between the target level and the measured quality of the link (t0-R0). In addition, also the measured quality of the link (RXQUAL) is transmitted in the acknowledgment messages of the packets, whereby the transmitting device changes its transmission power so that the quality will be controlled to the certain target level. The biggest step of the change is determined by the length of the packets. In the packet transfer downlink, the base station uses first the maximum power and corrects then its transmission power based on the measuring information included in the acknowledgment messages transmitted by the terminal device.

Control of transmission power in wireless packet data transfer

The object of the invention is a method for the encryption of information transferred between data transfer devices (MS, SGSN) in a data communication system wherein one or more data frames are created from one or more data packets formed from the information by the application. The data frames comprise at least a header field and a data field. In the method, at least some part of the data packets is ciphered by using a ciphering key (Kc). To the data frames, synchronization data (COUNT) is attached, the value of which is changed at least at the transmission of each data frame.

In the method, device (MS, BTS, GSN) and telecommunication network according to the invention the first time slot in the first direction of communication is detected and, based upon the detection, such a time slot is selected for the second time slot which will not overlap the first time slot.
