A method and apparatus of filing beverage combines pressurized beverage delivery (rather than gravity feed) with variable pressure control of the beverage flow into the can. By modulating beverage flow and especially beverage pressure, it is possible to fill a can's widget (gas reservoir) with gas with a shorter set of fill steps. In addition, the speed of beverage filling can be dramatically increased compared to small scale systems normally used. Unlike known large scale pressure systems, the beverage bowl may be located beneath the rest of the apparatus and modulated pressure may be used, making for a smaller and more portable unit.

Modulated pressure control of beverage fill flow

A continuous motion position controlled in-line linear seamer allows a manufacturer or brewery such as a microbrewery to have high speed can seaming (attachment of lids to full cans of beverage) with a single compact, inexpensive, independent and repositionable seaming machine. The seaming is carried out in-line with production, and is done using a linear can path with no need for a large carousel. The motion is continuous because a variable pitch worm drive is constantly operating, driving cans at different speeds for different portions of the can path, including one portion of the path at which the can may remain motionless while being seamed.

Continuous motion position controlled seamer

The self-contained force magnifying tool disclosed herein includes a tool portion, a striker, at least a portion of which is disposed within the tool portion, and a spring, a least a portion of which is disposed within the tool portion. The spring attaches to both the tool portion and the striker. When the striker is pulled by a user, the spring stores mechanical energy. When the user releases the striker, the striker impacts on the tool portion transferring the mechanical energy stored in the spring into a driving force. The force is magnified by a tool disposed on the tool portion of the self-contained force magnifying hand tool and applied to a workpiece.

Self-contained force magnifying chisel

A vertical internal coating machine is taught, which may be used with bodies such as cans (2 piece, 3 piece, draw, redraw) and including cylinders, containers and any similar body. In the machine cans or similar bodies are vertical in the machine's star wheel rather than horizontal, and the bodies are sprayed with the star wheel in continuous motion without stopping and starting. The machine teaches that a plurality of spray guns may be provided for each pocket of the star wheel. By means of the machine an improved line layout is devised which may eliminate the need to raise the bodies immediately prior to a necker by allowing the vertical can internal coating machine and internal bake over to be disposed on any level of the facility, upper, lower, mezzanine, etc. In green aspects, the machine may use negative pressure cabinets/hoods and positive pressure tunnels to entrain volatile organic chemicals emitted by the spray guns and coated bodies and may send these VOCs to a VOC destruction device, such as an oven.

The force is magnified by a chisel blade on the chisel portion of the self-contained force magnifying chisel and applied to a workpiece.
