An automotive vehicle with a storage compartment has a cabin, a set of rear wheels located behind the cabin, a cargo space, and a closable integrated storage compartment located adjacent to the cabin, rearward of a rear-most seat of the automotive vehicle, and forward of the set of rear wheels. At least a portion of the storage compartment is positioned forward of a forward wall of the cargo space. The storage compartment has at least one sidewall enclosing an interior portion of the storage compartment and extending from a first side panel at a first side of the automotive vehicle toward a second side of the automotive vehicle, a first opening to the storage compartment at the first side of the automotive vehicle, and a first door at the first opening. The first door has a first step member with a horizontal step surface when open.

An active impact control system includes: at least one actuator couplable to a crush structure of a vehicle and couplable to a portion of a structure of the vehicle; at least one sensor configured to sense impact with an object; and a controller configured to receive information from the at least one sensor and to determine a location and angle of impact based on the information received from the sensor, the controller being further configured to selectively signal the actuator to cause the crush structure to move relative to the structure of the vehicle.

A seat for an automotive vehicle includes a seat bottom and a seat back. The seat bottom includes a first frame and a seating surface, and the seat back includes a second frame. A first attachment mechanism is configured to secure the first frame of the seat bottom to the automotive vehicle. The seat back includes an upper portion, and a lower portion, and a middle portion between the upper portion and the lower portion. A second attachment mechanism is configured to connect the seat back and the seat bottom. The seat bottom and seat back being configured such that a lateral width of the upper portion of the seat back is greater than a lateral width of the lower portion of the seat back, a lateral width of the seat bottom is greater than the lateral width of the lower portion of the seat back, and a gap is located between the upper portion of the seat back and a rear portion of the seat bottom at a right side and/or a left side of the seat back.
