A composition and process to make polyurethane foam using a stable liquid catalyst composition comprising at least one liquid bismuth carboxylate catalyst and at least one liquid dialkyltin dicarboxylate complex are disclosed. The disclosed composition and process yield polyurethane foam having favorable properties, but requiring less metal. The polyurethane foams produced by this catalyst composition and method are useful for laminated boardstock, construction panels, appliance insulation, spray-applied insulation, seat cushions, and mattresses.

Mixed metal catalyst compositions and methods for making polyurethane foam

Amine composition useful for making polyurethane foam

A method of forming a low gloss, high solids polyurea coating containing very low volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the coating composition. The low volatile content not only makes the coating environmentally friendly but allows it to be applied at variable thickness levels and over a wide variety of environmental conditions. The coating composition is comprised of an isocyanate reactive agent containing a secondary diamine, a polyisocyanate, a gloss reducing agent and a viscosity modifier. The gloss reducing agent is generally pre-mixed into an isocyanate reactive agent containing a secondary diamine and/or polyisocyanate containing the viscosity modifier before mixing the two components together to form a low gloss polyurea coating.

Low gloss, high solids polyurea coatings

The disclosure relates to at least one partially reacted product of an isocyanate and an amine (e.g., a reaction product comprising at least one adducted compound). The reaction product comprises polyurea oligomers. The reaction product can be combined with at least one amine in order to formulate a curing agent for epoxy resins wherein the cured epoxy resin has enhanced fracture toughness. The at least partially reacted product does not increase the viscosity of the curing agent and is at least partially soluble in the amine component of the curing agent.

The present invention provides a reactive catalyst composition for making a water blown flexible polyurethane foam. The catalyst composition comprises one or more tertiary amine catalysts in combination with (1) 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol or (2) a blend of 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol and a C7+ alkanol. The use of such catalyst composition improves the physical properties of the polyurethane foam.

Methods for preparing polyurethane flexible foam are described, wherein an organic polyisocyanate is reacted with an active hydrogen-containing component such as an organic polyol, in the presence of a urethane catalyst, a blowing agent, optionally a cell opener, and a siloxane-based surfactant composition as a stabilizer for the foam. The siloxane-based surfactant composition comprises a silanol-functionalized organosiloxane having general formula (I), wherein:the R groups are independently a C-Calkyl, phenyl, or &#x2014;OSi(R); provided that at least one R group is a hydroxyl (&#x2014;OH) bonded directly to any silicon atom and X is an integer from 0-200.

Silanol-functionalized compounds for the preparation of polyurethane foams

A polyurethane is formed from an isocyanate and a polyester diol having a molecular weight less than about 2000, or a polyester diol comprising two polyester diol segments connected by a steric hindrance group, each of the polyester diol segments having a molecular weight less than about 2000. The polyurethane is useful as a binder in electro-optic displays, and in components used to form such displays.
