A method and a device for storing travel distance data are provided. In the method, travel distance data is stored in a non-volatile first memory area of a memory device, but only if this results in an increase in the total travel distance already previously stored therein. A first reference total travel distance, which is stored in a second memory area of the memory device, is compared with the total travel distance data which is currently stored in the first memory area. If, according to the first comparison, the total travel distance has increased compared with the first reference total travel distance according to a predetermined first criterion, updated first reference travel distance data corresponding to the total travel distance is stored in the second memory area in an encrypted form.

Method and device for storing travel distance data

In a process for monitoring motor vehicles of a motor vehicle fleet which is operated by a fleet operator, by way of a sensor system in the respective vehicle of at least a part of the vehicle fleet, vehicle-related data of the vehicle are determined. The vehicle-related data includes at least its geographical position. By use of at least a portion of the vehicle-related data, a number of servicing parameters are determined, which describe the service requirement of the respective vehicle. By using a data network, by way of which the respective vehicle and a user interface assigned to the fleet operator communicate, the number of servicing parameters and the geographical position of the respective vehicle are output by way of the user interface.

Process for the monitoring of vehicles of a motor vehicle fleet

A process and system are provided for determining fuel consumption of a motor vehicle. A first mean fuel consumption, which cannot be reset under a user's influence, is determined. A second mean fuel consumption, which can be reset under a user's influence, is determined as a function of several measured values. A third mean fuel consumption is determined as follows: (a) at the beginning of a predefined time period, which starts with a resetting of the second mean fuel consumption, the third mean fuel consumption is set to be equal to the first mean fuel consumption; (b) between the beginning and the end of the predefined time period, the third mean fuel consumption is set to be a weighted mean of the first mean fuel consumption and the second mean fuel consumption; and, (c) starting at an end of the predefined time period, the third mean fuel consumption is set to be equal to the second mean fuel consumption. A signal indicative of the third mean fuel consumption is provided.
