A material and a method of making hydrothermally stable (catalytic) materials on the basis of theta-alumina support that is thermally and hydrothermally stable up to 1,150 C with metal, mixed metal-, metal-oxide nanoparticles dispersed upon it. Such materials did not lose significant amounts of their catalytic activity at temperature ranges for industrially relevant applications (including hydrocarbon oxidation, nitric oxide reduction, carbon monoxide oxidation) even after hydrothermal aging up to 1,150° C.

Hydrothermally and thermally stable catalytic materials based on theta-alumina

Disclosed are passive NOadsorbers and methods for synthesizing the same. Small-pore zeolitic materials with practical loadings of transition metals atomically dispersed in the micropores are described herein. Also demonstrated are simple and scalable synthesis routes to high loadings of atomically dispersed transition metals in the micropores of a small-pore zeolite.

High-capacity, low-temperature, passive NOx and cd adsorbers and methods for making same

An article includes a substrate having an inner surface and an outer surface. A coating is deposited directly on at least a portion of the substrate outer surface. The coating consists essentially of titania and at least one additional photoabsorption band modifying material selected from vanadium (V), manganese (Mn), magnesium (Mg), scandium (Sc), yttrium (Y), niobium (Nb), molybdenum (Mo), ruthenium (Ru), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni), rhenium (Re), and mixtures thereof. The coating is a substantially non-porous CVD or MSVD coating and an outer surface of the coating is exposed to the environment.

Visible-light-responsive photoactive coating, coated article, and method of making same

Methods and articles are disclosed in which a substrate is provided with a photo-induced hydrophilic surface by forming a photo-induced hydrophilic coating on the substrate by spray pyrolysis, chemical vapor deposition, or magnetron sputter vacuum deposition. The coating can have a thickness of 50 &#x212b; to 500 &#x212b;, a root mean square roughness of less than 5, preferably less than 2, and photocatalytic activity of less than 3.0&#xd7;10cmmin&#xb1;2.0&#xd7;10cmmin. The substrate includes glass substrates, including glass sheets and continuous float glass ribbons.

Photo-induced hydrophilic article and method of making same

A method is provided for forming a photoactive coating having a photoabsorption band in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum. The method includes depositing a precursor composition over at least a portion of a float glass ribbon in a molten metal bath by a CVD coating device. The precursor composition includes a titania precursor material and at least one other precursor material selected from chromium (Cr), vanadium (V), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), magnesium (Mg), scandium (Sc), yttrium (Y), niobium (Nb), molybdenum (Mo), ruthenium (Ru), tungsten (W), silver (Ag), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni), rhenium (Re), and mixtures thereof.

A method and article are disclosed wherein a substrate is provided with a photocatalytically-activated self-cleaning surface by forming a photocatalytically-activated self-cleaning coating on the substrate by spray pyrolysis chemical vapor deposition or magnetron sputter vacuum deposition. The coating has a thickness of at least about 500 Angstroms to limit sodium-ion poisoning to a portion of the coating facing the substrate. Alternatively, a sodium ion diffusion barrier layer is deposited over the substrate prior to the deposition of the photocatalytically-activated self-cleaning coating to prevent sodium ion poisoning of the photocatalytically-activated self-cleaning coating. The substrate includes glass substrates, including glass sheet and continuous float glass ribbon.

Photocatalytically-activated self-cleaning article and method of making same

A coating in accordance with the invention has a substantially crystalline first layer with a substantially crystalline second layer provided over the first layer. A breaker layer is provided between the first and second layers and is configured to prevent or at least reduce epitaxial growth of the second layer on the first layer. A color suppression layer may be provided below the first layer. The coating can be provided on a substrate to make a coated article. A method of coating a substrate includes depositing a substantially crystalline first layer over at least a portion of the substrate and depositing a breaker layer over the first layer. The breaker layer is configured to prevent or at least reduce epitaxial growth of a subsequently deposited layer on the first layer.
