A method of arranging the transmission of packet data in a system comprising a mobile terminal, a wireless local network and a mobile network that includes end-to-end service related parameters that are signalled via a separate signalling element. A resource authorization identifier is transmitted to the mobile network via the local network. Authorization is requested from the signalling element on the basis of the resource authorization identifier. A tunnel between the mobile terminal and the mobile network is bound to the end-to-end data flow of the mobile terminal on the basis of an authorization from the signalling element and tunnel identification information identifying the tunnel.

Transfer of packet data in system comprising mobile terminal, wireless local network and mobile network

The invention relates to a method of transmitting packet data from a first subsystem to a wireless terminal device via the network node of a second subsystem. In the method, at least one filter is formed to guide mapping of at least one data flow of the first subsystem to at least one data flow of the second subsystem. At least one filter is attached to at least one data flow of the second subsystem. The filter comprises at least part of the interface identifier of the IP address, which at least part of the interface identifier is allocated in the wireless terminal device. Hereby, mapping of the data flow of the first subsystem to the data flow of the second subsystem is performed on the basis of the interface identifiers of the destination IP addresses in the received packets.

Transmission of packet data to a wireless terminal

The invention relates to transfer of packet data from a first subsystem via a network node in a second subsystem to a terminal in the second subsystem. The method includes negotiating identifiers identifying a data flow of the first subsystem via a separate signalling element during the set-up of an application-plane logical connection of the terminal. The identifiers are transmitted from the signalling element to the network node. In the method, a filter is generated at least on the basis of the identifiers for directing the mapping of at least one data flow of the first subsystem to at least one data flow of the second subsystem. The filter is bound to at least one data flow of the second subsystem, and at least one data flow of the first subsystem is mapped to at least one data flow of the second subsystem on the basis of the filter.

Transfer of packet data to wireless terminal

The invention relates to a method for supporting a transmission of data packets from a node attached to a mobile communication network to a first unit. In order to enable a second unit providing or forwarding the data packets to the node to influence the QoS for the transmission, it is proposed that the method comprises transmitting data packets of a specific data flow from the node to the first unit using a quality of service treatment which is selected based on a quality of service treatment associated with a quality of service identifier. The quality of service identifier is inserted by a second unit to each packet of the specific data flow. The invention relates equally to a terminal equipment, to a node, to a mobile communication network and to a system comprising means for realizing the proposed method.

Transmission of data packets by a node

The invention relates to a device, system and method a method for applying a certain Quality of Service (QoS) to a data stream () of an application () communicating data over a sockets connection. The method comprises providing a uniquely identifiable identifier (UID, Stream Type) the application () or to the data stream () from or to the application, and associating said identifier (UID, Stream Type) with a particular QoS in order to apply the particular QoS to the particular application () or to the particular data stream (), which application or data stream is identified by the identifier.

Quality of service definition for data streams

A method to control the PDP context of a data packet and a mobile station to realise the method. The mobile station comprises a control element, which controls the classification of a data packet to be sent to a PDP context on basis of a first and a second identifier. The first identifier indicates the application that has created the data packet and the second identifier indicates a separate data flow of the application. The classification process is simplified and thus better suited to a mobile station with limited performance capacity.
