A display assembly, a client device having the display assembly, and a method of manufacturing the display assembly are disclosed. Antenna performance in, e.g., mobile devices is improved via a robust and multifunctional multi-layer glass structure for a display of the mobile device or the like which allows placing auxiliary antenna elements between layers of the display structure. The structure allows placing the auxiliary antenna elements at different positions within it. The auxiliary antenna elements can be placed under and/or within the display, instead of, for example, surrounding the display. The multi-layer structure is continuous from the display surface to the substrate and gives freedom to place the auxiliary antenna elements, including metal elements, between any layers of the structure.

Display assembly, client device comprising the display assembly, and method of manufacturing the display assembly

An antenna arrangement comprising a dielectric element, at least one conductive element, an antenna radiator, and a plurality of exciter elements. The antenna radiator arranged at a first surface of the dielectric element and at a distance from the conductive element such that a gap is formed between the antenna radiator and a first surface of the conductive element. The exciter elements extend at least partially through a gap and are arranged on or adjacent to the conductive element. The antenna radiator may comprise a conductive material and be printed, sintered, painted, laminated, or deposited onto the first surface of the dielectric element, or molded into the dielectric element.

Multi-feed antenna arrangement for electronic apparatus

An antenna arrangement for a communication device comprises a top conductive patch comprising at least a first coupling point and a second coupling point coupled to one or more feed circuits carrying a radio frequency (RF) signal to or from the top conductive patch. The RF signal has a first phase in the first coupling point and a second phase in the second coupling point. A first slot extends in the conductive patch between the first coupling point and the second coupling point. The antenna arrangement according enables a desired current distribution to be realized in the antenna in a controlled and systematic manner. A communication device includes such an antenna arrangement.

Antenna arrangement and communication device

The disclosure relates to suppressing surface waves in a communication device for a wireless communication system. The communication device includes a dielectric layer extending along a plane between a chassis and a glass layer, an antenna element configured to emit a radio wave, and a retroreflective structure extending inside the dielectric layer and being located adjacent to the antenna element, and where the retroreflective structure is configured to reflect the radio wave in an angle non-parallel to the plane. The retroreflective structure hence prevents parasitic channeling of the antenna energy into surface waves in and behind the glass layer and directs the radiation into the desired direction.

Communication device comprising a retroreflective structure

An electronic device and antenna system for generation of millimeter-wave frequency radiation. The antenna system has first conductive structure, a second conductive structure, and an antenna comprising a first antenna element configured to excite a first electric field having a first polarization, and a second antenna element configured to excite a second electric field having a second polarization. The first antenna element and the second antenna element extend in an antenna plane. An anisotropic dielectric volume is partially enclosed by the antenna, the first conductive structure, and the second conductive structure. A first surface of the dielectric volume is open to the exterior of the antenna system. The dielectric volume allows the first and second electric fields to propagate, within the dielectric volume, from the antenna at least partially towards the first conductive structure, and to radiate from the first surface to the exterior.

Dual-polarization antenna module and electronic device comprising said antenna module

An antenna assembly includes a first antenna array and at least one second antenna array disposed a substrate. The first antenna array includes a first monopole antenna element and at least a second monopole antenna element. A metal strip member is coupled to the first monopole antenna element and to the second monopole antenna element. The second antenna array comprises a dipole shaped coupler. The first antenna array and the second antenna array are spaced apart by a predetermined distance and occupy a common space.

Dual polarization connected antenna array

Embodiments of the present invention provide a dual-polarization antenna array that includes: a conductive structure having an aperture pattern including at least one first aperture and at least one second aperture, the first aperture(s) being directly interconnected with at least one second aperture. At least one first coupling element is connected to a first antenna feed line to excite a first electrical field having a first polarization. At least one second coupling element is connected to a second antenna feed line to excite a second electrical field having a second polarization. Each first coupling element is at least partially juxtaposed with one first aperture, allowing said first electrical field to be transmitted and/or received through said first aperture. Each second coupling element being at least partially juxtaposed with one second aperture, allowing said second electrical field to be transmitted and/or received through said second aperture.

Dual-polarization antenna array

A beam steering antenna structure comprising a printed circuit board and a conductive component, a first wall and a second wall of the printed circuit board being juxtaposed with a first surface of the conductive component, the second wall abutting and being galvanically connected to the first surface. A second surface of the conductive component extends at an angle from the first surface. A connecting surface extends between the first wall and the second wall such that a groove is formed, the groove being partially juxtaposed to the first surface. The groove comprises a first antenna array and a second antenna array transmitting or receiving, respectively, a first radiation beam and a second radiation beam having orthogonal polarizations. The second surface steers at least one of the first or second radiation beam in a direction away from or towards the connecting surface.

Beam steering antenna structure and electronic device comprising said structure

A redirecting structure for electromagnetic waves, the redirecting structure comprising a first reflection passage formed between a first conductive element and a second conductive element, and an antenna structure comprising an antenna element and a radiation passage extending from the antenna element in a first direction. The antenna structure is connected to the first reflection passage at a first interface, the first reflection passage extending in a second direction different from the first direction. A first reflective structure is associated with an interior of the first reflection passage and is arranged at a predetermined distance from the first interface such that electromagnetic waves propagating from the antenna structure into the first reflection passage are reflected to the radiation passage by the first reflective structure.

Redirecting structure for electromagnetic waves

A transmission line for transmitting radiofrequency range current between a first conductive element and a second conductive element, the transmission line comprising a signal current line and at least one return current line, the signal current line and the return current line(s) extending in parallel. Each current line comprises at least one first segment and at least one second segment. Each first segment is partially aligned with at least one adjacent second segment, aligned segments being separated by a first dielectric gap, and each aligned first segment and second segment forming a capacitive coupling across the first dielectric gap. This solution enables a transmission line which provides only small capacitive loading onto its surroundings, and which therefore can extend, e.g., through an antenna element without significantly affecting the performance of the antenna element.

Transmission line for radiofrequency range current

An electronic device comprises a housing having a first side and a second side, a dielectric cover () on said second side, and an electrically conductive peripheral structure along edges of said first and second sides. An antenna feed () is coupled to a portion () of said peripheral structure for using said portion () as a radiating antenna element. A conductive member () is located on or underneath said dielectric cover (). The purpose of the conductive member is to enlarge the surface area where the electric field is distributed on to increase the antenna aperture for radiation.

Antenna extender, and electronic device with antenna extender

A beam steering antenna structure comprises a stacked antenna module and a first conductive component. The antenna module comprises a first substrate and a second substrate arranged superjacent such that main planes of the substrates extend in parallel. The first substrate comprises a first antenna array transmitting and receiving a first radiation beam. The second substrate comprises a second antenna array transmitting and receiving a second radiation beam. The first conductive component extends adjacent to the antenna module and is at least partially separated from the antenna module in a first direction perpendicular to the main plane of the conductive component. The antenna module is coupled to the conductive component by means of at least one of a galvanic, capacitive, or inductive coupling. At least one of the first and the second radiation beams is at least partially steered away from the other one by the first conductive component.

A millimeter-wave (mmWave) assembly () comprising a first mmWave module (), a second mmWave module (), and a connector () configured to releasably interconnect the first mmWave module () and the second mmWave module (). The connector () comprises a first connector element () associated with the first mmWave module (). The first mmWave module () comprises a first substrate () and an mmWave radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) (), and the second mmWave module () comprises a second substrate () and an mmWave antenna array (). An electronic device includes a housing having a first side and a second side, a dielectric cover on the second side, and an electrically conductive peripheral structure along edges of the first and second sides. An antenna feed is coupled to a portion of the peripheral structure for using the portion as a radiating antenna element. A conductive member is located on or underneath the dielectric cover. A purpose of the conductive member is to enlarge the surface area where the electric field is distributed on to increase the antenna aperture for radiation.
