A length-adjustable steering shaft may include a metallic hollow shaft with an opening in which a metallic inner shaft is accommodated rotatably-fixedly and in an axially movable manner. The steering shaft may also include a pull-out retention means with an outer stop that protrudes into an opening of the hollow shaft and an inner stop that protrudes outward from the inner shaft. The inner and outer stops may be formed from the metallic material of the hollow shaft or the inner shaft and may comprise stop surfaces that are directed toward each other in an axial direction. A layer of non-metallic material may be applied to at least one of the inner stop or the outer stop at least partially in a region of the stop surface.

Length-adjustable steering shaft and method for producing a length-adjustable steering shaft

A steering shaft for a motor vehicle may have an inner shaft, an outer shaft, and a profiled sleeve that is fixed on the inner shaft such that the inner shaft is movable together with the profiled sleeve in an axial direction relative to the outer shaft. The inner shaft and the outer shaft may be coupled in a torque-transmitting manner with the profiled sleeve connected therebetween. The profiled sleeve may comprise an aperture into which a projection on an outer face of the inner shaft engages in a manner that secures the profiled sleeve in position on the inner shaft at least in the axial direction.

Steering shaft for a motor vehicle and method for the production thereof

A toothed shaft can be installed in a hollow shaft that has an internal toothing such that the toothed shaft is coupled in a positively locking fashion so as to be telescopic in a direction of a longitudinal axis. The toothed shaft may include a toothing region with teeth on an outer circumference and extending in an axial direction. In the toothing region a shaft core may be overmolded by way of an injection molding process with a sliding coating comprised of thermoplastic material. The sliding coating may have at least three impressions, with each of the at least three impressions featuring an aperture that extends through the sliding coating to a surface of the shaft core.

Toothed shafts for installation into hollow shafts with internal toothings in telescopic fashion

A longitudinally adjustable steering shaft for a vehicle has an inner shaft received in an outer shaft to be displaceable coaxially and in the direction of a rotational axis. The two shafts have interlocking profiles in cross section for transmitting torques. A profile sleeve on which the outer shaft is telescopically arranged is arranged on the inner shaft part. The profile sleeve in a first end region surrounds a free end of the inner shaft part in the mounted state and has a radially inwardly protruding stop for abutment against an end face of the inner shaft in one axial direction and an end region of the inner shaft has a radially outwardly protruding projection for abutment of the profile sleeve in an opposite axial direction. The profile sleeve includes a radially inwardly protruding stop with reference to a simplified mounting in a first end region.

A steering shaft for a motor vehicle has an inner shaft, arranged in an outer shaft that is displaceable axially in the direction of an axis of rotation. The inner shaft includes axially running radial projections on its outer side. The outer shaft includes axially running grooves on its inner side, into which grooves the projections of the inner shaft engage in a positively locking manner in a direction of rotation and displaceably in an axial direction. With regard to fault-free operation during fluctuating temperatures, on the inner shaft, there is arranged a profiled sleeve with undulating cross-sectional profile, the inner surface of which lies against the flanks of the projections of the inner shaft and the outer surfaces of which lie against the flanks of the grooves of the outer shaft, wherein the profiled sleeve is connected to the inner shaft at one or more fastening points.

Steering shaft for a motor vehicle

A method may be employed to produce a variable-length steering shaft. The method may involve positioning a shaft core within a mold cavity of an injection molding tool coaxially with respect to a mold surface that delimits a toothing region, injecting molten plastic into the mold cavity between the shaft core and the mold surface of the mold cavity, removing a toothed shaft from the injection molding tool after the molten plastic has solidified, providing a hollow shaft and axially inserting the toothing region into an internal toothing of the hollow shaft. To make it possible to provide an improved sliding coating with the least possible manufacturing outlay, the injection of the molten plastic may be performed from one axial end region of the mold cavity.

Method for producing a variable-length steering shaft

A method for producing a length-adjustable steering shaft having a hollow shaft in which a toothed shaft is received so as to be axially telescopic. The toothed shaft has a toothing with teeth on an external circumference that extend in the axial direction and which engages in a form-fitting manner in an inner toothing of the hollow shaft. A sliding layer of thermoplastic plastics material is at least in portions attached between the inner toothing and the toothing. In order to enable an improved fastening of the sliding layer to the toothing, prior to attaching the sliding layer, form-fitting elements which for forming a form-fitting connection that is effective in the axial direction are brought to engage with the sliding layer are configured in the region of the toothing of the toothed shaft or the inner toothing of the hollow shaft.

A steering shaft for a motor vehicle may comprise a first shaft part and a second shaft part that is telescopable with respect to the first shaft part. The first shaft part may comprise at least one spline region with at least one guide element that is in a form-fit engagement with the second shaft part for guiding the first shaft part relative to the second shaft part during the telescoping and with at least one transmission element that is in engagement with the second shaft part via a loose form-fit for transmitting a torque. The spline region may be at least partially overmolded with a plastic, and the guide element may be formed by the overmolding.

A shaft for a steering system of a motor vehicle may comprise an outer tube and an inner tube that can be telescoped relative to the outer tube. The inner tube may be guided fixedly in the outer tube so as to rotate with the outer tube in order to transmit torque. An inner end of the inner tube may be received in the outer tube. The shaft may further include a pull-out protection mechanism for impeding the inner tube from being pulled out of the outer tube. The pull-out protection mechanism may be disposed at the inner end of the inner tube and may include at least one sprung blocking element for impeding the pulling of the inner tube out of the outer tube in a positively locking manner.
