The invention provides polymers comprising repeating units derived from at least one monomer comprising at least one functionalized or unfunctionalized acryloyl moiety and at least one lactam moiety; at least one monomer comprising at least one sulfonic acid moiety or a salt thereof; and at least one crosslinker. The invention further provides various compositions comprising the polymers. The invention furthermore provides applications of these compositions in various industrial arts, particularly in oilfield operations such as drilling and cementing.

Crosslinked polymers derived from monomers having acryloyl and lactam moieties and sulfonic acid/sulfonate comonomers, compositions thereof, and applications thereof

Stable water based High-Temperature-High-Pressure (HTHP) and/or Non-HTHP crosslinked copolymers for oil and gas applications consist of (i) a crosslinked, linear polyvinyl amide/polymerizable carboxylic acid) copolymer, having a composition, by weight, of 25-75 wt. % of a vinyl amide monomer selected from vinyl pyrrolidone, vinyl caprolactam, N-vinyl-N-methylacetamide and mixtures thereof, and 25-75 wt. % of a polymerizable carboxylic acid monomer selected from acrylic acid, (meth)acrylic acid, crotonic acid, itaconic acid, maleic acid and mixture thereof; and (ii) a crosslinker in an amount of 0.01-5% based on weight of total monomers. Also discloses relevant compositions comprising said copolymer and method of use thereof.

High-temperature high-pressure (HTHP) stable synthetic polymer for water based oil-well servicing fluids

What is described herein is an aqueous high-temperature high-pressure (HTHP) stable drilling mud composition comprising (i) about 20 wt. % to about 80 wt. % of 0-60% w/w brine solution; (ii) about 0.1 wt. % to about 3 wt. % of butylated reaction product of p-cresol and dicyclopentadiene, a polymeric hindered phenol based antioxidant; (iii) about 0.1 wt. % to about 10.0 wt. % of triethanol amine, a chelating agent; (iv) (a) about 0.1 wt. % to about 10 wt. % of rheology modifier (RM); and/or (b) about 0.5 wt. % to about 30 wt. % of fluid loss additive (FLA); (v) about 20 wt. % to about 80 wt. % of weighting agent; (vi) about 0 wt. % to about 20 wt. % of drilling solid; and (vii) about 0 wt. % to about 50 wt % of water.

High pressure high temperature (HPHT) aqueous drilling mud composition and process for preparing the same

A salt-tolerant, thermally-stable rheology modifier and, in particular, a rheology modifier for applications in oilfield well-bore fluids. In accordance with one aspect, the rheology modifier comprises a terpolymer of acrylamide, 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-propanesulfonic acid (AMPS) and a long-chain alkyl acrylate wherein the terpolymer is prepared by dispersion polymerization.

Salt-tolerant, thermally-stable rheology modifiers

The present disclosure relates generally to a composition comprising a low molecular weight graft polymer. The graft polymer is a graft homopolymer, copolymer or terpolymer. Additionally, the present disclosure relates to a scale inhibitor composition comprising the low molecular weight graft polymer. Furthermore, the present disclosure relates to a process for preventing the deposition of scale from water or aqueous solution and a method for scale inhibition treatment of an oil or gas production well by using the low molecular weight graft polymer. The scale inhibitor is low corrosive for application in the oilfield.
