Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and apparatus for enabling a subscriber station to start a settings provisioning process in a WiMAX system. The method includes receiving a request from a subscriber station, the request requesting information for enabling the subscriber station to begin a settings provisioning process. A bootstrap document is then fetched, and a response is transmitted to the subscriber station. The response includes the bootstrap document and the bootstrap document includes the information for enabling the subscriber station to begin the settings provisioning process.

Enabling settings provisioning process in WiMAX networks

The present invention provides methods, apparatuses, and systems for supporting emergency calls on a WiMAX access network. According to an embodiment of the invention, a method of providing emergency calling in a WiMAX network is provided. The method includes determining whether a call from a subscriber station (SS) is an emergency call. To enable making an emergency call, the minimum bandwidth required to enable SIP signaling is reserved and required resources are allocated from the access service network gateway (ASN-GW) via a base station (BS).

Emergency and priority calling support in WiMAX

Providing a data transfer connection according to a connection-oriented data transfer protocol between a first communication entity and a second communication entity using a wireless transmission path, the first communication entity being capable of using at least two wireless transmission paths in data transfer. A data transfer connection is established between said first communication entity and said second communication entity in so that the first communication entity uses one of the wireless transmission paths on the data transfer connection. The data transfer flow is controlled on said data transfer connection using one or more windows that indicate the maximum amount of data to be transferred simultaneously on said data transfer connection. At least one of said windows is adjusted based on the wireless transmission path used.
