The invention relates to a process for producing a polypropylene composition by sequential polymerization the polypropylene composition having an improved balanced combination of high flowability, high stiffness and impact, and high level of optical properties.

The invention relates to a process for producing a polypropylene composition having an improved balanced combination of high flowability, high stiffness and impact, and high level of optical properties. The present invention is directed to a process for feeding a polymerisation catalyst into a polymerisation reactor (), comprising the steps of: (i) maintaining a catalyst slurry comprising a diluent and a solid catalyst component in a catalyst feed vessel (); (ii) continuously withdrawing a stream of the catalyst slurry from the catalyst feed vessel (); and (iii) introducing the withdrawn portion of the catalyst slurry into the polymerisation reactor (), wherein the catalyst slurry is transferred by using a valveless piston pump () from the catalyst feed vessel () into the polymerisation reactor (); the diluent has a dynamic viscosity of from 0.01 to 20 mPas at the conditions within the catalyst feed vessel (), and wherein the catalyst slurry is transferred along a substantially vertical path downwards from the catalyst feed vessel () to the reactor ().

Process for feeding a polymerisation catalyst

The present invention deals with a process for polymerising olefins in a solution and withdrawing a stream of the solution from the polymerisation reactor and passing it to a sequence of heating steps. The heated solution is passed to a separation step, which is conducted at a pressure of no more than 15 bar and in which separation step a liquid phase comprising the polymer and a vapour phase coexist. A vapour stream and a concentrated solution stream comprising the polymer are withdrawn from the separation step. At least a part of the vapour stream is passed to the first polymerisation reactor, to the second polymerisation reactor or to both.

Process and apparatus for in-line blending of polymers

The present invention relates to a process for producing ethylene copolymers in a multistage process comprising at least one slurry phase polymerization stage and at least one gas phase polymerization stage in the presence of Ziegler Natta catalyst comprising a solid catalyst component, a cocatalyst of a compound of group 13 metal and an external additive selected from alkoxysilanes of formula (I) RSi(OR), (I) where n is an integer 0 to 3, each Rare equal or different and are selected among H, halogen, alkyl groups of 1 to 6 carbon atoms optionally substituted with one or more halogen atoms, alkenyl groups of 2 to 6 carbon atoms optionally substituted with one or more halogen atoms, and aryl groups of 6 to 12 carbon atoms optionally substituted with one or more halogen atoms, or the Rgroups can form with the Si atom they are linked to a ring of 3 to 8 ring atoms, provided that all Rare not hydrogen, Rare equal or different and are selected among alkyl groups of 1 to 6 carbon atoms optionally substituted with one or more halogen atoms, alkenyl groups of 2 to 6 carbon atoms optionally substituted with one or more halogen atoms, and aryl groups of 6 to 12 carbon atoms optionally substituted with one or more halogen atoms, or the ORgroups can form with the Si atom they are linked to a ring of 3 to 8 ring atoms, halogen is Br, Cl or F. The invention further relates to the catalysts and use thereof in said multistage process r for producing ethylene copolymers having melt flow rate ratio FRRat least 40 and/or polydispersity index PDI of at least 27.

Process for producing polyethylene

An in-line blending process for polymers comprising: (a) providing two or more reactor-low pressure separator units () in parallel configuration, each reactor-low pressure separator unit comprising one reactor () fluidly connected to one low pressure separator () downstream and further a recycling line () connecting the low pressure separator () back to the corresponding reactor (); (b) polymerizing olefin monomers having two or more carbon atoms in each of the reactors () in solution polymerisation; (c) forming an unreduced reactor effluents stream including a homogenous fluid phase polymer-monomer-solvent mixture in each of the reactors (), (d) passing the unreduced reactor effluents streams from each of the reactors () through the corresponding low pressure separators (), whereby the temperature and pressure of the low pressure separators () is adjusted such that a liquid phase and a vapour phase are obtained, whereby yielding a polymer-enriched liquid phase and a polymer-lean vapour phase, and (e) separating the polymer-lean vapour phase from the polymer-enriched liquid phase in each of the low-pressure separators () to form separated polymer-lean vapour streams and separated polymer-enriched liquid streams; (f) combining the polymer-enriched liquid streams from step (e) in a further low-pressure separator and/or a mixer () to produce a combined polymer-enriched liquid stream (); (g) reintroducing the polymer-lean vapour streams from step (e) via recycling lines () into the corresponding reactors ().

In-line blending process

A process for producing copolymers of ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms in the presence of a solid Ziegler-Natta catalyst comprising of magnesium, titanium, halogen and an internal organic compound, the copolymer having a density of from 906 to 937 kg/mand a melt flow rate MFRmeasured at 190&#xb0; C. under 21.6 kg load of from 3 to 150 g/10 min. The process includes the steps of (A) homopolymerising ethylene or copolymerising ethylene and a first alpha-olefin having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms in a first polymerisation stage in the presence of the polymerisation catalyst, hydrogen and optionally the first alpha-olefin; (B) copolymerising ethylene and a second alpha-olefin having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms in a second polymerisation stage in the presence of the first homo- or copolymer of ethylene and the Ziegler-Natta catalyst; and (C) recovering the polymer mixture.

The present invention is a process for producing low density copolymers of ethylene and alpha-olefins having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms in three polymerization stages in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst where a low molecular weight copolymer of ethylene is produced in two of the stages and a high molecular weight copolymer in one of the stages. The resulting copolymers have a low density of not more than 920 kg/m.
