The invention relates to a composition comprising 5 to 100 wt. % of a structured aqueous phase wherein the composition contains 0.1 to 10 wt. % sericin by weight of water, said sericin having a proportion of beta-sheet in the secondary structure that exceeds 80%. It was found that sericin having a proportion of beta-sheet in the secondary structure that exceeds 80% is an excellent water structurant and can suitably be used to structure the aqueous phase of a wide range of products, such as cosmetic products, pharmaceutical products, food products and detergent compositions.

The invention relates to a photostable sunscreen composition that not only provides enhanced sun protection by way of high SPF, but does that over sustained period of time after applying the composition on the skin. The present inventors have found that when a compound of the triazine group is used without additional UVA or UVB sunscreen, and a non-ionic surfactant is included in a cosmetic base comprising fatty acids, it is possible to achieve high SPF.

Photostable sunscreen composition

The invention relates to a high SPF sunscreen composition. There is a problem of achieving high SPF while keeping the total amount of sunscreens in the compositions relatively low. It is desirable, that the enhanced SPF benefit could be achieved through synergistic interaction of commonly used ingredients, thereby the present applicants have been working on solving this problem and have surprisingly found that cosmetic compositions comprising dibenzoylmethane or its derivative in combination with an oil soluble UV-B sunscreen when incorporated in a sunscreen composition along with a non-ionic surfactant of a select class meeting certain HLB requirements, provide the enhanced SPF benefits when applied on the substrate of interest.

Sunscreen composition

A shaped solid cleaning composition, especially in bar format, which utilises the detergency properties of new materials which are more efficient, relatively inexpensive and are environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional soaps or synthetics surfactants; more particularly, a shaped solid cleaning composition which comprises a specific amount of structuring agent and a specific amount of a treated particle. The precursor of the treated particle is an asymmetric 1:1 or 2:1:1 clay particle having alternating tetrahedral and octahedral sheets terminating with a tetrahedral sheet at a first external surface plane and an octahedral sheet at a second external surface plane. Either or both of said external surfaces is attached with a fatty acid or derivative thereof.

Shaped solid cleaning composition

This invention relates to a liquid or soft-solid personal cleansing composition that utilises the detergency properties of new materials which are more efficient, more inexpensive and are an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional soaps or synthetic surfactants. It more particularly relates to a cleansing composition in liquid, gel or cream formats. The present invention provides for a personal cleansing composition comprising (i) 1 to 50% of treated clay particles; and (ii) a cosmetically acceptable base; wherein said treated clay particles are asymmetric 1:1 or 2:1:1 clay particles having alternating tetrahedral and octahedral sheets terminating with a tetrahedral sheet at one external surface plane and an octahedral sheet at another external surface plane, with a fatty acid of carbon chain length 10 to 22 attached to coordinating cation on one of said exterior surface planes.

Personal cleansing composition

A method of coloring keratinous fibers comprising contacting the keratinous fibers sequentially with a pre-treatment composition and a color developer wherein: i. the pre-treatment composition comprises: (a) 0.5-25% by weight of an iron salt at a pH below 2 including 0.5-5% by weight of a reducing agent (b) a buffer effective in the pH range 3-6 and (c) a penetration enhancer comprising one or more solvents having Hansen solubility parameter &#x3b4;h between 1-10 (MPa)and &#x3b4;p between 10-25 (MPa)wherein the component (b) is mixed with (a) or (c) not more than 360 minutes prior to contacting the keratinous fibers and ii. the color developer is selected from one or more of hydrolysable tannin or its breakdown products or derivatives or a mixture thereof obtained from a natural or synthetic source, where the sequence of contact is in any order.
