A light emitting diode (LED) driving apparatus is disclosed. The LED driving apparatus includes a rectifier for rectifying an alternating current (AC) voltage to supply a ripple voltage, a light emitting unit partitioned into two or more groups, each of the groups including a plurality of LEDs, and a driving controller for selectively driving one or more of the groups of the light emitting unit depending on a level of the ripple voltage, the driving controller driving at least one of the groups of the light emitting unit using current discharged from a capacitor connected with the at least one group when the ripple voltage is lower than an operating voltage of the light emitting unit.

There are provided an image display apparatus having a display unit capable of sensing a touch made by a pointing device, and a method for operating the same. The method includes outputting a synchronous signal through the entire region of the display unit, transmitting a first scanning signal and a second scanning signal respectively scanning the display unit in a first direction and a second direction to the pointing device; and acquiring touch position information regarding a touch made by the pointing device by using touch time information regarding time points when the pointing device receives the first scanning signal and the second scanning signal after sensing the synchronous signal. Accordingly, an error in touch recognition caused by the delay of a synchronous signal can be minimized.

A plasma display apparatus is disclosed. The plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel including an address electrode, and a data driver. A sustain signal that alternates between a positive polarity and a negative polarity is supplied to only one electrode. Therefore, it can facilitate the adoption of an integrated driving board. Furthermore, a voltage magnitude of a set-up signal supplying in any one of the remaining sub-fields other than a first sub-field of a frame is less than the voltage magnitude of the set-up signal supplying in the first sub-field. The plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel including a first electrode and a second electrode connected to a reference voltage source, a negative voltage controller that supplies a negative voltage output from a negative constant voltage source to the first electrode, a sustain driver, and a negative voltage blocking unit. A plasma display apparatus and a method of driving the same are disclosed. In the method, a first pulse of a positive polarity direction and a second pulse of a negative polarity direction are alternately supplied to the first electrode during a sustain period. In this case, an absolute value of a voltage of the first pulse is different from an absolute value of a voltage of the second pulse. A third pulse of a positive polarity direction to the third electrode is supplied during the supply of the first pulse, and a fourth pulse having a sum of a voltage magnitude of the third pulse and a voltage magnitude of the second pulse is supplied to the third electrode during the supply of the second pulse.

A plasma display apparatus and a method of driving a plasma display panel are disclosed. The plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel including a first electrode and a second electrode, and an integrated sustain driver. The integrated sustain driver supplies a sustain signal of a positive polarity and a sustain signal of a negative polarity to the first electrode during a sustain period. Two light emissions occur during at least one period of a supply period of the sustain signal of the positive polarity or a supply period of the sustain signal of the negative polarity.
