A capacitive deionization process is provided. The capacitive deionization process includes a charging step of applying power to a capacitive deionization apparatus in a charging state and supplying charge water containing target dissolved ions to be precipitated to the capacitive deionization apparatus for a predetermined period of time, a discharging step of applying power to the capacitive deionization apparatus in a discharging state and supplying discharge water in which the target dissolved ions are in a saturated state to the capacitive deionization apparatus for a predetermined period of time, and a crystal recovery step of recovering a crystal of the target dissolved ions precipitated in the capacitive deionization apparatus and/or the discharge water.

A capacitive adsorption module assembly is proposed. The capacitive adsorption module assembly includes a plurality of capacitive adsorption modules, each having a disk-shaped spacer configured to form a flow path through which feed flows, a cation exchange membrane attached to any one of an upper surface and a lower surface of the spacer, a first electrode attached to the cation exchange membrane, an anion exchange membrane attached to the other of the upper surface and the lower surface of the spacer, and a second electrode attached to the anion exchange membrane, wherein the capacitive adsorption modules are vertically stacked such that adjacent capacitive adsorption modules share or contact the first electrode or the second electrode, and at least one first terminal and second terminal passing through the stacked modules being provided.

A bipolar capacitive deionization (CDI) electrode includes a circular current collector having a central hole and inner and outer circumferential surfaces; a nano-carbon coating layer formed on at least top and bottom surfaces of the circular current collector; and a hydrophobic polymer coating layer respectively disposed over the inner and outer circumferential surfaces of the current collector. Maintenance and management is facilitated by a bipolar CDI electrode module configured such that individual parts are formed to be removably attached. A water treatment apparatus including the bipolar CDI electrode module exhibits high water treatment efficiency, superior long-term stability, and easy maintenance and management, while solving terminal corrosion problems due to the formation of a hydrophobic polymer coating layer on the surface of an electrode terminal.

A capacitive-deionization-type nutritive salt removal system and method uses capacitive deionization (CDI) to remove nutritive salts that cause eutrophication of water due to a water-bloom phenomenon in water held by a dam or a weir. The system includes an intake pump configured to take in the water; a first nutritive salt filtration unit configured to use capacitive deionization to primarily filter out nutritive salts from the taken-in water; a second nutritive salt filtration unit configured to use capacitive deionization to secondarily filter out nutritive salts from the primarily filtered water; and a nutritive salt storage tank configured to collect and store nutritive salts filtered through the second nutritive salt filtration unit. When one filter train is operating the first or second nutritive salt filtration unit, another filter train is subjected to automatic cleaning in a standby state.

A method for manufacturing a capacitive deionization electrode exhibits enhanced ionic material adsorption efficiency. The method includes (a) kneading an electrode active material while adding a solvent to the electrode active material; (b) adding a solvent to the mixture obtained after (a) and stirring the result; and (c) preparing an electrode slurry by adding a binder to the mixture obtained after (b) and stirring the result. According to the method, a problem of a binder blocking electrode pores, which used to occur when using existing methods, is resolved by increasing mixing efficiency of the binder while using an electrode active material having a high specific surface area. A capacitive deionization electrode having very superior ionic material adsorption efficiency may be manufactured using the method.

The present invention relates to a method and system for recovering carbonate from steel slag, in which it is possible to extract carbonate from steel slag and reuse the extracted carbonate, and to recycle steel slag and make use of COgas without emission to the atmosphere.
