Systems and methods for preventing unauthorized use of roaming numbers in a wireless telecommunications system. Upon receipt of a call request for a mobile terminal at a Gateway Mobile Switching Center (GMSC), the GMSC queries a Home Location Register (HLR). The HLR requests a roaming number for the mobile terminal from a Mobile Switching Center (MSC). The MSC allocates a roaming number for the mobile terminal, assigns an authentication code, and sends to the HLR. The HLR receives the roaming number and authentication code and relays to the GMSC. The GMSC sends a call setup request to the MSC; the call setup request includes the roaming number and the authentication code. The MSC confirms the authentication code and, if the authentication code for the roaming number is confirmed, completes the call request to the mobile terminal.

Systems and methods for preventing unauthorized use of roaming numbers in a wireless telecommunications system

A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for re-directing failed calls to H.323 endpoints within an H.323 system by adding a unique re-routing release cause to a Release Complete message in the H.225 protocol that indicates that the call should be re-routed to another number. The Gatekeeper within the H.323 system stores the alternative number for the H.323 endpoint, and upon reception of this new re-routing cause in the Release Complete message, the Gatekeeper establishes a new leg of call to the alternative number.

Method and system for switching a mobile station from a low power limited operations mode to a normal operating mode

A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for allowing network operators to download ringing tone pattern(s) associated with one or more musical scores to mobile stations (MSs) according to the music selection of mobile subscribers associated with the MSs. Once executed, the ringing tone pattern provides a musical ringing tone on the MS, instead of the normal ringing tone. In addition, ringing tone patterns can be used to enhance the &ldquo;distinctive ringing&rdquo; function within the MS. Thus, instead of using distinctive ringing patterns to represent different called party numbers, different music can be used.

System and method for providing a musical ringing tone on mobile stations

A 'Local Number Portability (LNP) intelligent Signal Transfer Point (STP)' which can perform a Local Number Portability (LNP) query towards a Service Control Point (SCP) and modify the incoming Initial Address Message (IAM) with the Location Routing Number (LRN) and the Ported Dialed Number (PDN), and indicate, using the Forward Call Indicator (FCI) (M-bit), whether the number has been translated. This advantageously allows non-Advanced Intelligent Network capable Service Switching Points (SSPs) (but Integrated Services Digital Network User Part, or ISUP, capable SSPs) to support Local Number Portability (LNP) without having to upgrade the SSP's. In addition, the LNP intelligent STP system provides AIN-capable SSPs with an alternative means of LNP, which reduces both the internal switching processes and the cost for the LNP query transactions.
