A variety of systems, methods and compositions are disclosed, including, a method comprising: providing a fracturing fluid comprising: a carrier fluid; a micro-proppant; and a degradable micro-fiber; pumping the fracturing fluid into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation; and creating or extending at least one fracture in the subterranean formation. A fracturing fluid comprising: a carrier fluid; a micro-proppant; and a degradable micro-fiber. A method comprising: isolating a perforated zone in a wellbore; pumping into the perforated zone a pad fluid above a fracture gradient of a formation penetrated by the wellbore to create a plurality of fractures within the formation; pumping into the perforated zone a fracturing fluid above the fracture gradient; pumping into the perforated zone a diverting fluid below the fracture gradient; and repeating the step of pumping into the perforated zone the fracturing fluid after the step of pumping into the perforated zone the diverting fluid.

Methods of ensuring and enhancing conductivity in micro-fractures

A workflow for fracturing a subterranean formation includes providing fracturing databases or models for the hydrocarbon wellbore, selecting one or more fracturing fluid systems for fracturing the subterranean formation based on the fracturing databases or models and recommending at least one of the one or more selected fracturing fluid systems for fracturing the subterranean formation. Additionally, a workflow controller for fracturing a subterranean formation includes a workflow processing unit having fracturing models or databases to determine functional aspects of one or more fracturing fluid systems to provide a fracturing fluid system recommendation for the subterranean formation, and a fracturing fluid delivery unit that applies the fracturing fluid system recommendation to the subterranean formation. A hydrocarbon wellbore fracturing system for a subterranean formation is also provided.

System and method for selecting fluid systems for hydraulic fracturing

Creating a fracture network extending from a wellbore into a subterranean formation. The method includes introducing a series of fluids into the fracture network in a subterranean formation, thereby forming a proppant pack in the fracture network. The series of fluids comprise: a microproppant slurry comprising a microproppant having an average diameter less than about 25 microns; a proppant slurry comprising a proppant having an average diameter of about 75 microns to about 500 microns; and a sweep fluid having a microproppant weight percentage by weight of the sweep fluid that is from 0 to about the same of the microproppant weight percentage in the microproppant slurry by weight of the microproppant slurry. The introduction of the microproppant slurry is not immediately followed by introduction of the proppant slurry. The introduction of the proppant slurry is not immediately followed by introduction of the microproppant slurry.

Staged propping of fracture networks

A variety of systems, methods and compositions are disclosed, including, a method that may comprise providing a fracturing fluid comprising: a carrier fluid; a micro-proppant; and a degradable micro-fiber. The method further may comprise pumping the fracturing fluid into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation. The method further may comprise creating or extending at least one fracture in the subterranean formation.

A method of servicing a wellbore includes introducing a fluid into a wellbore, the wellbore having particulate matter disposed therein and entraining at least a portion of the particulate matter within the fluid. The fluid includes a polymer having at least one hydrophobic monomer and at least one hydrophilic monomer. The fluid is also included within an analytical tool within a coiled tubing system for performing operations in a wellbore. The fluid is also included within a formation-tester tool.

Fluids for applications in downhole tools

Methods of treating a subterranean formation. A pad fluid is introduced into a wellbore penetrating the subterranean formation to create or enhance one or more fractures in the subterranean formation. A fracturing fluid is introduced into the wellbore. The fracturing fluid includes a polymer having a hydrophobic monomer and a hydrophilic monomer. The fracturing fluid further includes a proppant and a second aqueous base fluid. The fracturing fluid does not include a crosslinker or an oxidative breaker. The fracturing fluid is broken thereby settling the proppant in the fracture.

Breaking a fracturing fluid to prop a fracture in a subterranean formation

A first flow distribution to one or more entry points into a subsurface formation may be monitored. Stimulation criteria may be identified based on the first flow distribution. At least one characteristic associated with a first treatment fluid to be injected into a wellbore associated with the subsurface formation may be determined based on the first flow distribution, where the at least one characteristic is based on the stimulation criteria. The subsurface formation may be stimulated with the first treatment fluid and a second flow distribution monitored based on the stimulation. A determination is made whether the second flow distribution meets the stimulation criteria. The subsurface formation may be stimulated with a second treatment fluid based on the determination that the second flow distribution does not meet the stimulation criteria.

Real-time perforation plug deployment and stimulation in a subsurface formation

Methods and systems employing a flocculation polymer and microparticulates. The flocculation polymer flocculates the microparticulates to form micro-aggregates for use in forming complex fracture networks. Additionally, the flocculation causes the flocculation polymer to be removed from a treatment fluid due to its interaction with the microparticulates, thereby effectively cleaning the flocculation polymer from a subterranean formation. Individual microparticulates are synergistically used alone or in the presence of a de-aggregating agent to enhance complex fracture networks.

Micro-aggregates and microparticulates for use in subterranean formation operations

Systems and methods for treating proppant to mitigate erosion of equipment used in certain subterranean fracturing operations are provided. In some embodiments, the methods comprise: conveying a plurality of coated proppant particulates into a blender, wherein the coated proppant particulates comprise at least a partial coating of DFR and/or a hydratable polymer; blending the plurality of coated proppant particulates with an aqueous base fluid in the blender to form a treatment fluid; and introducing the treatment fluid from the blender into at least a portion of a subterranean formation.

Proppant treatments for mitigating erosion of equipment in subterranean fracturing operations

A variety of systems, methods, and compositions are disclosed, including, a method for treating a subterranean formation, the method comprising: injecting a pad fluid into the subterranean formation at a pressure sufficient to create at least one fracture in the subterranean formation; injecting a first treatment fluid into the at least one fracture, wherein the first treatment fluid comprises: an aqueous base fluid, and a first proppant particulate; allowing the first proppant particulate to gravitationally migrate into a portion of the at least one fracture; injecting a second treatment fluid into the at least one fracture, wherein the second treatment fluid comprises: a suspension base fluid comprising a viscosity of about 50 cP to about 10,000 cP, and a second proppant particulate; and allowing the fracture to close, thereby forming a full proppant pack and a partial proppant pack in the at least one fracture.

Method of enhancing proppant distribution and well production

A method may comprise providing a concentrated proppant slurry comprising a slurry fluid and a proppant, preparing a fracturing fluid by combining components comprising the concentrated proppant slurry, a carrier fluid, and a dispersing agent, and introducing the fracturing fluid through a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation at an injection rate and pressure that is at or above the fracture gradient of the subterranean formation.

Enhancing proppant performance

A conductivity cell for simulating micro-proppant flowing through microstructures includes a core wafer holder defining a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, with a core wafer chamber connecting the fluid inlet in fluid communication with the fluid outlet. A core wafer is installed within the core wafer chamber of the core wafer holder. A pressure piston is biased against the core wafer within the core wafer chamber. A pre-determined channel gap is defined on the core wafer for passage of the fluid through the cell.
