An ear-wearable electronic device includes aa shell having a uniquely-shaped outer surface that corresponds uniquely to an ear geometry of a user of the ear-wearable device. The device includes a mounting structure that is formed contiguously with the shell and intersects an inner surface of the shell. The mounting structure includes a mounting surface operable to fixably mount an interchangeable device to the shell. The mounting structure defines a void that extends from the inner surface to the outer surface of the shell. The mounting structure has a reference feature that is positioned relative to the outer surface of the shell such that the interchangeable device is located at a target orientation relative to the outer surface.

An ear-wearable electronic device includes a shell with a cable retention slot. The cable entrance slot has an interior end and an exterior end. A bend surface extends from the exterior end of the cable retention slot to an exterior surface of the shell. The bend surface aligned with a crux of a user's ear when the ear-wearable device is installed in an ear of the user's ear. The shell may include a uniquely-shaped outer surface that corresponds uniquely to an ear geometry of the user of the ear-wearable device.

An ear-wearable electronic device includes a shell having a uniquely-shaped outer surface that corresponds uniquely to an ear geometry of a user of the ear-wearable device. The device includes an elongated sensor assembly. A mounting bridge is formed integrally with the shell and has a mounting surface that supports the elongated sensor assembly. An elongated void is in the shell that exposes the mounting surface of the mounting bridge. The shell includes an access void that extends from the inner surface to the outer surface of the shell near a first end of the mounting bridge. The access void is larger than a minor cross section of the elongated sensor assembly such that the elongated sensor assembly is able to pass through the access void and be held against the mounting surface.

A hearing device for electrically coupling to skin of a user includes a body having a housing forming at least part of an outer surface. The device includes an acoustic transducer and an electrode disposed at least partially in the body. The electrode includes an outer conductor disposed at least partially in the housing and an inner conductor electrically coupled to the outer conductor and disposed subflush to the outer surface. A method of forming the hearing device includes providing a cast shell, forming an elastomeric conductor in a cavity of the cast shell, and removing a thin outer wall of the cast shell to form the housing of the hearing device.

Electrodes for hearing devices and related methods

Ear-worn devices may include one or more structural elements formed of high-dielectric material. The position and shape of the structural element may be selected relative to an antenna of the ear-worn device to provide specific enhancements of the electric and/or magnetic field generated by the antenna. The structural elements may include a host resin material and a plurality of dielectric material elements. The structural elements may have an effective dielectric constant greater than 5. One or more loading strips may be used to tune a resonating structure formed by the antenna and the structural elements. The antenna may be an antenna array with structural elements disposed between elements of the array.
