The present invention provides an infusion pump having a main body portion. The main body portion includes a display area for displaying user interface information. At least one pump module is provided which is removably secured to the main body portion and adapted to receive an IV tube. The pump module can apply pumping action to the IV tube. The pump module further includes an auxiliary display area for displaying supplemental user interface information. A microprocessor is contained in the main body portion for generating user interface information on the display areas.

Medical infusion pump

The locations of a plurality of devices are tracked using a network of communication links, each of which corresponds to a location. Each device is given a tag that identifies the device with respect to other devices and that is connectable to a communication link when the device is disposed at the location to which the link corresponds. Each tag that is connected to each communication link is detected, and the location of each device is determined based on the detection. One feature of the technique is additionally determining the conditions of the devices by correlating one or more communication links with conditions. The technique is simple to use and highly effective technique in tracking devices stored at various locations throughout a facility. Device location and condition are monitored continuously, thereby reducing the risk that the removal of a device from storage will go undetected.

Managing an inventory of devices

A device for accurately transferring fluids from a plurality of source containers to a receiving container including a removable transfer set providing fluid communication between the source containers and the receiving container, means for measuring a quantity of transferred fluid, a monitor that determines the accuracy of the means for measuring, and means for preventing transfer of fluid unless the means for measuring is sufficiently accurate.
