Heavy oil feeds are hydroprocessed in the presence of a solvent and in the presence of a catalyst with a median pore size of about 85 &#x212b; to about 120 &#x212b; under conditions that provide a variety of benefits. The solvent can be an added solvent or a portion of the liquid effluent from hydroprocessing. The processes allow for lower pressure processing of heavy oil feeds for extended processing times or extended catalyst lifetimes be reducing or mitigating the amount of coke formation on the hydroprocessing catalyst.

Hydroprocessing of heavy hydrocarbon feeds using small pore catalysts

A method of making a crystalline molecular sieve of MFI framework type, preferably ZSM-5, from a synthesis mixture comprising at least one source of tetravalent element (Y), at least one source of trivalent element (X), at least one source of alkali metal hydroxide (MOH), at least one structure directing; (R) and water, said synthesis mixture having the following molar composition: YO, (p)XO: (q) MOH: (r) R: (s) HO, wherein (p) is from 0.005 to 0.025, (q) is from 0.05 to 0.5, (r) is from 0.05 to 0.15 and (s) is from 35 to 45, wherein the ratio of the largest dimension (L) to the smallest dimension (S) of each crystal of the molecular sieve product is at least 5, and the smallest dimension (S) is from 20 nm to 200 nm.

Hydroprocessing of heavy hydrocarbon feeds

A process for oligomerizing isobutene comprises contacting a feedstock comprising isobutene with a catalyst comprising a MCM-22 family molecular sieve under conditions effective to oligomerize the isobutene, wherein said conditions including a temperature from about 45&#xb0; C. to less than 140&#xb0; C. The isobutene may be a component of a hydrocarbon feedstock containing at least one additional Calkene. In certain aspects, isobutene oligomers are separated from a first effluent of the oligomerization to produce a second effluent comprising at least one n-butene. The second effluent can be contacted with an alkylation catalyst to produce sec-butylbenzene.

Selective oligomerization of isobutene

This invention is directed to a process for producing a hydroprocessed product. The invention is particularly advantageous in that substantially less hydrogen is absorbed during the process relative to conventional hydroprocessing methods. This benefit is achieved by using a particular solvent as a co-feed component. In particular, the solvent component contains at least one single ring aromatic compound and has a relatively low boiling point range compared to the heavy hydrocarbon oil component used as another co-feed component.

In a process for producing cyclohexylbenzene, benzene and hydrogen are contacted with a catalyst under hydroalkylation conditions to produce an effluent containing cyclohexylbenzene. The catalyst comprises a composite of a molecular sieve, an inorganic oxide different from said molecular sieve and at least one hydrogenation metal, wherein at least 50 wt % of said hydrogenation metal is supported on the inorganic oxide.

A process for the selective production of meta-diisopropylbenzene is disclosed, wherein the process comprises the steps of contacting cumene under disproportionation conditions and in the absence of added benzene with a catalyst comprising a porous crystalline inorganic oxide material having an X-ray diffraction pattern including d-spacing maxima at 12.4&plusmn;0.25, 6.9&plusmn;0.15, 3.57&plusmn;0.07 and 3.42&plusmn;0.07 Angstrom to produce a disproportionation effluent containing benzene and mixture of diisopropylbenzene isomers, and then recovering from said disproportion effluent a meta-diisopropylbenzene boiling range fraction in which the ratio of meta-diisopropylbenzene to ortho-diisopropylbenzene is in excess of 50 and the total amount of meta-diisopropylbenzene co-boilers excluding ortho-diisopropylbenzene is less than 1 wt % of said fraction.
