A gas bag module comprises a gas generator and a rigid housing in which the gas generator is arranged. The housing has at least two gas outflow channels with one port each, the ports adjoining each other and being directed towards the gas generator and separated from each other by a wall. The gas generator has a continuous gas outflow zone with at least two sections, each of the sections of the gas outflow zone being associated with one of the ports. The housing is constructed such that gas emerging from the sections of the gas outflow zone can only flow into the one of the gas outflow channels which is associated with the respective section.

Gas bag module

A machine for folding a side gas bag for a vehicle occupant restraint system comprises a guide channel in which a gas bag to be folded can be disposed, and first and second folding tongues. The folding tongues have teeth and the guide channel has a first side part and a second side part in each of which several recesses are provided. The teeth of the folding tongues are able to engage into the recesses.

Apparatus and method for folding a gas bag

A vehicle occupant protection system comprises an inflatable gas bag, a tensioning band which is tensioned in the case of inflation of the gas bag so that the tensioning band has a tension, and a device which at the end of a predetermined period of time after inflation of the gas bag reduces the tension of the tensioning band.

Vehicle occupant protection system

An assembly consists of a vehicle door, an A-pillar of a vehicle and an inflatable gas bag. In the inflated condition, the gas bag is supported by the vehicle door and in the region of the A-pillar of the vehicle. The internal overpressure exceeds 10 Pa (14.5 psi) in at least one part of the inflated gas bag.

Assembly including a gas bag

A gas bag module for a vehicle occupant restraint system includes a gas bag having at least a first fabric layer which is made of interwoven weft threads and warp threads and which forms a wall of the gas bag. The gas bag module also includes a gas lance with openings for an inflow of a gas into the gas bag. A second fabric layer is disposed in the area of the openings and is formed by part of the weft threads of the first fabric layer.

Gas bag module for vehicle occupant restraint systems

A gas bag for a vehicle occupant restraint system comprises two superimposed plies of fabric ( ) and a tether secured to the plies of fabric and defining the spacing between them in the inflated condition. The tether is formed by a seam ( ) implemented with a thread slack.

Gas bag with tether means

A gas bag protection device with a gas bag to which two opposing plies of fabric are assigned. The plies of fabric consist of warp and weft threads and are sectionwise connected to each other by integral interweaving so as to form at least one inflatable chamber. The plies of fabric are integrally interwoven in a portion by at least one of the warp and weft threads in such a manner that the at least one thread forms a sacrificial thread which bursts in a restraint situation.

Gas bag protection device

The invention relates to a gas bag protective device comprising a gas bag made of at least two opposite fabric layers ( ), which delimit at least one chamber ( to ) able to be filled with gas, the fabric layers ( ) consisting of warp- and weft threads ( ). The gas bag has, in addition, at least one spacer ( ) which is connected with the fabric layers ( ) and in the inflated state limits the spacing of the fabric layers ( ) from each other. In addition, at least two anchoring points are provided on the gas bag, at which it is to be fastened to the vehicle and between which it is tensioned in the inflated state. The gas bag is characterized in that the spacer is provided on a straight connecting line of anchoring points and brings about a tensioning of the gas bag between the anchoring points. In addition, the spacer ( ) is formed by some of the warp- and/or weft threads ( ) which, in relation to the inflated state, leave the area formed by their associated fabric layer ( ) and extend in the direction toward the opposite fabric layer ( and , respectively) and are connected with warp- and/or weft threads ( ) of the opposite fabric layer ( and , respectively).

Gas bag protective device

A gas bag for an occupant restraint system has several walls of layers of fabric, which delimit the interior of the gas bag, adjacent walls being connected in one piece with each other by interweaving and interwoven regions having an edge adjoining the interior of the gas bag. The edge runs at least in sections in an undulating shape which shape is defined by successive concave and convex portions of the edge.

Gas bag

A gas bag, with several walls (,) of fabric material which delimit the interior of the gas bag, at least one separating cross-piece (,to,) which is formed by interweaving opposite wall regions and divides the interior of the gas bag into several chambers (,to,), is characterized in that the separating cross-piece (,to,) has at least one free end at which it widens and runs out in a drop shape (,) or in a rounding (,).

Airbag

A gas bag has several walls of layers of fabric, which delimit the interior of said gas bag, adjacent walls being connected in one piece with each other by interweaving, and an outer periphery along which said walls are connected to each other by interweaving, and several chambers which are separated from each other by the provision of an elongated, interwoven region. The interwoven region provided for separating chambers has opposite ends and terminates at least at one of said ends at a distance from said interwoven outer periphery, in order to delimit at least one overflow channel in the region of said outer periphery of said gas bag. The interwoven region runs out in at least one of a rounding and a drop shape at the end terminating at a distance from the outer periphery.

A side impact protection device comprises a gas bag adapted to be translated from a folded condition into an unfolded condition, and a tensioning device. The tensioning device has a traction apparatus with a first and a second end. The first end is connected to the gas bag at a first region and the second end is connected to the gas bag at a second region which is different from the first region. The side impact protection device further comprises at least two deflection points for the traction apparatus. The traction apparatus extends from the first region via the deflection points towards the second region.
