A device for machining wheel running surfaces of a wheel for a rail vehicle includes a wheel machining machine having a machining tool for performing a re-profiling process on the wheel and a rolling tool for performing a rolling process on the wheel and applying a rolling force to the wheel. A clamping unit is alternatively used as a receptacle for the machining tool or for the rolling tool. A first drive motor drives a first feed axle to translate the clamping unit along a first axis. A second drive motor drives a second feed axle to translate the clamping unit along a second axis perpendicular to the first axis. A control module adjusts the rolling force by controlling torques of the first and second drive motors.

Method and device for the machining of the wheel running surface of wheels for rail vehicles

A method for machining the wheel running surfaces of wheels for rail vehicles using a wheel machining machine is described herein. The method includes performing a rolling process on the wheels with a rolling tool that applies a rolling force to the wheels, and adjusting the rolling force by controlling the torques of drive motors of feed axles of the rolling tool.

The invention concerns a rolling unit for machining the wheel running surfaces of wheelsets for rail vehicles, with the rolling unit featuring at least one work roller by means of which the wheel running surface to be machined is subjected to a deep rolling process following manufacture of the wheelset in new condition or, at a later date, after reprofiling to increase the service life of the wheel running surfaces. The task is solved to create a relevant rolling unit by means of which the wheel running surfaces can be deep-rolled in the forward feed process using work rollers. This task is solved by the rolling unit featuring a base body on which a support arm is located in a vertical position to the base area, on which a receptacle is supported that is unilaterally fixed in position via a thread in the support arm and on which an angular contact ball bearing is located; this supports at least one work roller featuring at least two different rolling radii.

Rolling unit for deep-rolling the running surfaces of rail vehicles

A rolling tool for the roller finishing of bearing surfaces of a crankshaft is pivotable around a crankshaft axis, with a finishing roller head and with a support roller head. In order to prevent damage to the guide mechanisms, the roller finishing roller is guided on all sides in a roller cage and the finishing roller head has a frame wherein it is mounted pivotably around a first pivot axis which is perpendicular to the crankshaft axis and parallel to a tangent on a working side of the roller finishing roller. Additionally or alternatively, the support roller head comprises a support roller frame in which the support roller housing is mounted pivotably around a second pivot axis perpendicular to the crankshaft axis and parallel to the first pivot axis, and around a third pivot axis perpendicular to the crankshaft axis and perpendicular to the first pivot axis.
