A distributor box is provided for microprocessor, memory and logic components and/or power semiconductor components, with a housing comprising a lower housing compartment and at least one upper housing compartment, which can be connected to the lower compartment in a tightly sealed, firm manner to provide a high degree of protection. At least one transfer pin-and-socket connector is provided comprising a first and a second connector part, the first connector part of which is fixedly mounted in an upper housing compartment in such a way that when this upper compartment is set onto the lower compartment, the first connector part is brought into electrical contact with a second connector part of the transfer pin-and-socket connector, which fits together with the first part and is fixedly mounted in the lower housing compartment. In the lower housing compartment are mounted connecting devices or external terminal arrangements such as terminal strips or the like, so that a set of cables can be connected to at least the associated second pin-and-socket connector part. The lower housing compartment comprises a T-shaped, high tension cabling between two external connecting devices and one external terminal arrangement for a hybrid cable on the lower housing compartment. The lower housing compartment also comprises a T-shaped cabling for a field bus between two external terminal arrangements on the lower housing compartment and at least one second pin-and-socket connector part. In at least one upper housing compartment there is mounted an electronic circuit that can be electrically connected to a control bus by way of a first and a second pin-and-socket connector part. The lower housing compartment also comprises an external means of connecting a hybrid cable with hybrid pin-and-socket connector part that incorporates high tension and low tension leads, the high tension leads being connectable to at least one electronic circuit in an upper housing compartment.

Electromagnetic operable mechanical brake for an electric motor

Conventionally converter-controlled electric motors are allowed to operate in generational mode during braking and to convert the electrical energy so produced into heat. Such motors may also comprise electromagnetically actuated mechanical brakes. In the present invention it is proposed to supply the electrical energy produced by the motor when in a generational mode to an excitation coil of the brake and there store it temporarily as magnetic energy or convert it into heat.

Electric motor and method for operating such a motor

A three-phase a.c. motor for operation with a three-phase mains supply (,), with three single- or multiple-strand windings (,) in a star configuration (,) in which terminals (U,, V,, W,) at the neutral ends of the windings (,) are accessible outside the set of windings (,), with an electronic switch (,) so constructed and so connected by way of switch terminals (U,, V,, W,) to the neutral-end terminals (U,, V,, W,) that the latter can be electrically connected to one another during a process of turning on and disconnected from one another during a process of turning off, and with a control circuit (,) designed to control the electronic switch (,) and connected to the latter. By integration of the electronic switch (,) and the control circuit (,) within the terminal box of the three-phase motor, both the space required and the number of electronic components can be dramatically reduced in comparison to known three-phase motors.

Three-phase motor

Electric motors, in particular geared motors, are often equipped with electromagnetically actuated mechanical brakes. In order to ensure that an excitation coil (,) can be operated with alternating-current mains supplies of various voltages, it is proposed to generate a unipolar voltage that varies over time with a certain period by means of a voltage source (,), the output voltage of which is positive and different from zero in a first time segment of this voltage period and in this first time segment has a maximal value, and in a second segment of the voltage period is zero or approaches zero. To pass an excitation current from the voltage source (,) to the excitation coil (,), a current path (,) is provided that is opened substantially at the beginning of the first time segment. The current path (,) is blocked again at a certain point within the first time segment, this point being selected such that the excitation current does not exceed a predetermined maximal value. During a time span in which the excitation coil (,) is or should be permanently excited, the opening and blocking of the current path are repeated in each voltage period.

Method and circuit arrangement for operating an electromagnetically actuated mechanical brake of an electric motor

An electric motor with a frequency converter for speed control purposes and in which a frequency converter casing is provided with a cooler, is characterized by an intermediate part, replacing a terminal box and receiving the connecting elements. The intermediate part allows the frequency converter casing to be fitted in a thermally decoupled manner with respect to the electric motor.
