An air-oil separator assembly can include an air-oil mixture inlet, an air outlet, and an oil outlet, a housing defining a cylindrical separating cavity, and an outlet conduit disposed within the separating cavity, wherein, outlet conduit is adapted to receive oil removed by the air-oil separator assembly from a flow containing an air-oil mixture fluid received by the air-oil mixture inlet.

A method for manufacturing a dual-structured aircraft engine starting and generating apparatus is provided. The method includes printing a housing using a three-dimensional printing process including a main machine portion and an exciter portion for receiving at least part of a generator system. Printing the housing includes printing a cooling jacket portion comprising one or more cooling passages that is a monolithic part of a sidewall of the housing.

A wet cavity electric machine includes a stator core having two stator poles formed by a post and a wire wound about the post to form a stator winding, with the stator winding having end turns, and a rotor having two rotor poles and configured to rotate relative to the stator and a channel for liquid coolant to flow through the rotor, and at least one fluid port in fluid communication with the channel and the stator winding end turns wherein the end turns will be exposed to liquid coolant passing through the channel.

The starter/generator comprising a housing and a portion of a rotatable shaft with a safety disconnect where the safety disconnect is located within the housing of the starter/generator.

A high-speed sleeveless rotor for an electric machine is provided. The rotor includes a shaft rotatable about a longitudinal axis, and a rotor core circumscribing at least a portion of the shaft wherein the rotor core includes an axially oriented slot. The slot includes a radially outer slot opening, a radially inner slot floor, and a slot sidewall extending therebetween. The slot floor includes a topstick attachment member extending radially outward from the slot floor and configured to engage a topstick positioned in the slot opening and the slot sidewall includes a shoulder configured to engage the topstick, preventing radially outward movement of the topstick.

Apparatus for a high speed sleeveless rotor

An aircraft starting and generating system includes a first starter/main machine assembly that includes a first exciter and a first main machine, and second starter/main machine assembly that includes a second exciter and a second main machine. The system also includes a permanent magnet generator (PMG) that is connected to the first and second starter/main machine assemblies. The system further includes a first inverter/converter/controller (ICC) that is connected to the first starter/main machine assembly and to the PMG, and a second ICC that is connected to the second starter/main machine assembly and to the PMG. The first and second ICCs generate AC power to respective drive the first and second starter/main machine assemblies in a start mode of the starting and generating system for starting a prime mover of the aircraft, and the first and second ICCs convert AC power, respectively obtained from the PMG after the prime mover has been started, to DC power in a generate mode of the starting and generating system.
