One embodiment of the invention is directed to a method of preventing, reducing, or eliminating at least one negative effect of oxidative damage, such as an oral disease, caused by a dental device in the mouth of a patient. Another embodiment relates to a method of preventing, reducing, or eliminating at least one negative effect of inflammation. The method may include applying topically to a soft oral tissue in the patient an oral antioxidant composition. The antioxidant composition may include between 0.0001% and 5.0% w/w or at least one antioxidant, wherein the at least one antioxidant includes a natural phytochemcial antioxidant, a flavonoid, an anthocyanidin, a dihydrochalcone, a phenylpropanoid, a chalcone, a curcuminoid, a tannin, a stilbenoid, a coumarin, a carotenoid, or a vitamin, and an orally pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The pH of the oral antioxidant composition may be at least 5.0.

Antioxidant compositions for treatment of inflammation or oxidative damage

An anti-aging composition containing: (a) at least one first active ingredient chosen from phloretin and its derivatives; (b) at least one second active ingredient chosen from cinnamic acid, resveratrol, retinol, ascorbic acid, tocopherol, and their derivatives; and (c) at least one non-aqueous organic solvent, with the proviso that if the composition contains ascorbic acid, water is present as a co-solvent.

The present invention relates to ascorbic acid single-phase solution compositions that provide enhanced stability, enhanced solubility and an enhanced photoprotective effect as compared to prior compositions. The compositions comprise L-ascorbic acid; a cinnamic acid derivative such as p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid, caffeic acid, sinapinic acid, a derivative thereof, and a combination thereof; a solvent comprising a glycol ether and an alkanediol; and water; the composition having a pH of no more than about 3.5. The compositions may also comprise a form of Vitamin E and are useful for treatment of radical-induced damage to a subject, particularly the skin of a subject.

Stabilized ascorbic acid compositions and methods therefor

Isoflavones are modified by esterification at one or more of the C4', C5, C6, and C7 positions to promote bioavailability, and especially to enhance solubility over the corresponding unesterified isoflavones. Preferred modifications produce a carboxylic acid hemiester or a phosphate ester which is biologically hydrolysable. Preferred starting isoflavones are genistin and daidzin, and still more preferably comprises an aglycone form such as genistein or daidzein. Esterified isoflavones may be employed therapeutically or prophylactically for a variety of conditions, provided as a dietary supplement, or added to natural or processed food-stuffs. Further preferred uses include incorporation of contemplated compounds into topical formulations, and especially cosmetic topical formulations.

A pharmaceutical composition is provided which is suitable for topical or oral administration in an individual, the composition comprising a hydrophilic hesperetin pro-form and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. A pharmaceutical composition is also provided which is suitable for topical or oral administration in an individual, the composition including a lipophilic hesperetin pro-form and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. A method is provided for treating a subject having or at risk of having a cell proliferative disorder, including administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a hesperetin pro-form.

Arginine-silicate-inositol complex and use thereof

This invention provides esters of propofol (2,6,-diisoprophenol). The propofol esters are soluble in water and metabolize rapidly to propofol in the body. The propofol esters are useful as pro-drugs for the same indications as propofol. Arginine silicate inositol complex and use thereof

An arginine silicate-containing complex and its use in the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis and as a dietary supplement. The arginine silicate complex is synthesized by combining arginine, potassium silicate and inositol. The complex is administered orally three times per day in an amount ranging from about 250 mg to about 2,500 mg as a preventative or therapeutic agent.
