A pedal system includes a user interface, e.g., a pedal for contacting by a driver of a vehicle, a force sensor, and a force transfer member between the user interface and the force sensor. A force applied to the user interface is detected and measured by the force sensor. One or more membranes, e.g., two membranes, are arranged at an outer surface of the force transfer member to decouple off-center loading and non-uniform forces, e.g., resulting from off-center force application at the user interface.

In a particular embodiment, a force sensor apparatus is disclosed that includes a force-compliant element that deforms in response to forces applied to the force sensor apparatus. The apparatus also includes a sensing element coupled to the force-compliant element and is configured to generate a signal indicating the degree that the force-compliant element deforms in response to the applications of forces to the force sensor apparatus. In this embodiment, the apparatus also includes a printed circuit board configured to receive the signal from the sensing element and a support structure having a surface on which the printed circuit board is coupled. The support structure has an outer rim that is attached to the force-compliant element. The apparatus also includes a sensor housing that covers the printed circuit board. The sensor housing has an outer rim attached to the force-compliant element.

Force sensor apparatus and a method of assembling the same

A method for correcting offset drift in a sensor used in cyclic sensing is provided. The method includes: identifying a target value for a parameter of a signal between sensing cycles of the sensor; ascertaining a difference between a measured value for the signal and the target value; ascertaining a duration between the sensing cycles; using the difference and the duration, calculating a number of steps to attain the target value from the measured value; and adjusting the measured value by the number of steps to substantially agree with the target value. Disclosed is a pressure-measuring plug () for a combustion engine comprising a hollow plug body (), a housing () attached to a distal end (D) of the plug body (), electronic components () arranged in the housing () and a sensing module () arranged in the hollow plug body and attached to a proximal end (P) of the hollow plug body () The measuring plug further comprises an interconnection module () configured to electrically connect the electronic components () to the sensing module () through the hollow plug body. The interconnection module () comprises an elongated support structure (A) with a first end (P) provided with first terminals (C) and a second end (D) provided with second terminals (B), wherein the first terminals (C) provide an electrical coupling which is flexible in axial direction. The interconnection module provides a reliable connection and could be used for mass production.

Combustion pressure measuring plug for a combustion engine

A piezoresistive pressure-measuring plug for a combustion engine. The pressure-measuring plug includes a plug body having a threaded plug body part with an external thread for screwing the plug body into a cylinder of the combustion engine, and a sealing plug body part forming a tip of the plug for providing a seal between the plug body and the combustion engine. The plug body further includes a sensing body part positioned between the threaded plug body part and the sealing plug body part. The sensing body part includes a cylindrical body part, a moving part, and a sensing structure that form a single integral piece. The sensing structure forms a connection between the cylindrical body part and the moving part, and allows the moving part to move relatively to the cylindrical body part along a cylinder axis of the cylindrical body part.
