The invention relates to a device for humidifying the intake air of internal combustion engines that are equipped with a turbocharger. The device comprises a humidifying unit ( ) through which the intake air and humidifying liquid flow and come into contact with one another. The humidifying unit is arranged upstream from the compressor ( ) of the turbocharger in the direction of flow of the intake air. A heat exchanger ( ), which serves to pre-heat the intake air and through which the atmospheric intake air flows, is located upstream from the humidifying unit in the flow path of the intake air. Said heat exchanger is connected to a liquid circuit ( ) with which the humidified intake air that is compressed by the compressor and supplied to the internal combustion engine is cooled by another heat exchanger ( ).

Described is a device for moistening the inlet air of internal combustion engines having a turbo-supercharger. The device comprises moistening means through which the inlet air and the moistening liquid flow and contact with one another. The moistening means is disposed upstream or the compressor of the turbo-supercharger in flow direction of the inlet air. In the flow path of the inlet air upstream of the moistening means an air/air heat exchanger is disposed which serves for preheating the inlet air and which is flown through by the atmospheric inlet air and the moistened and compressed inlet air from the compressor.

Described is a device for moistening the inlet air of internal combustion engines having a turbo-supercharger. The device comprises moistening means through which the inlet air and the moistening liquid flow and contact with one another. The moistening means is disposed upstream of the compressor of the turbo-supercharcher in flow direction of the inlet air. In the flow path of the inlet air upstream of the moistening means an air/air heat exchanger is disposed which serves for preheating the inlet air and which is flown through by the atmospheric inlet air and the moistened and compressed inlet air from the compressor.

Moistening device for the inlet air of combustion engines

A method and an apparatus of operating a boiler fired with liquid or gaseous hydrocarbons are described. Fuel and atomizing air are supplied to the burner of the boiler wherein the atomizing air is subjected to a moistening process prior to mixing with the fuel. Heated water is vaporized and is contacted with the atomizing air. The generated water vapor together with the atomizing air is supplied to the burner. In this manner, the portion of the NO,emissions in the flue gas of the boiler can be reduced.
