High-pressure discharge lamp according to the invention have a quartz glass lamp vessel (1) which consists locally of UV-absorbing quartz glass (shaded region 2). During operation of the lamps the normally colder wall parts of the lamp vessel in this region thus assume a higher temperature, as a result of which the efficiency of the lamp is increased while said regions (2) nevertheless remain transparent to visible radiation.

A flashlamp unit having a plurality of flashlamps secured to a support on which an electrical circuit is printed. The flashlamps are connected to the circuit which includes break switches. The support with the electrical circuit and break switches has such a construction that the electrical conductors of the break switches and the circuit can be provided in the same operational step.

A flash array has at least two combustion flash lamps and an indicator which indicates whether a lamp has or has not flashed. The indicator consists mainly of a melting strip which is constructed as a radiation-sensitive switch contact and which is part of the electric circuit of the flash array.

Flash array

The invention relates to a flash array provided with a number of high voltage combustion flash lamps which each cooperate with a single reflector sheet of an electrically conducting material. This reflector sheet is provided with holes; when a lamp is flashed a radiation-sensitive switching contact is affected via one of the holes. According to the invention the radiation-sensitive contacts open responsive to radiation. These contacts and the reflectors are connected to one another via a low-ohmic connection and whereby further a lamp, whose turn has not yet come, is short circuited. These measures result in the fact that the chance for premature ignition of a lamp is extremely small.

Flash array provided with a high voltage combustion flash lamp

A flash array provided with a number of high voltage combustion flash lamps which are ignited by means of a piezo element. The flashing of two lamps at the same time is prevented by means of melting strips. According to the invention the igniting pulse for a second lamp of the device is passed on via a capacitive circuit element which is formed by the flashed first lamp or a separate capacitor. By using such a capacitor circuit element instead of an ohmic resistance undesired loss of heat is avoided.
